“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

The location for the hotel is second to none, close to most of the tourist attractions in the City, as well as rail and bus links. The hotel is huge, staff well trained, and has good buzz about the place.

The hotel has good security, with key access needed, even for the lift

We had a tower room on a upper floor with a view of nothing, the bed was comfortable, the room large, clean, with a great rainforest shower. The old draw back was the continual bonging of the clock tower. The Fitness centre was impressive, the pool not so. (small)

The bar, was overpriced, as is most 5 star resorts. Otherwise a enjoyable stay.

Dear undercoverelephant

Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay at The Westin Sydney. We are pleased you were comfortable in our care and you could take advantage of our central location. We however regret your experience was disrupted by the chiming of the clock tower. We appreciate your comments regarding our pricing offering at The Bar, Lounge and Room and will certainly take it to account when we next review our service offering.

We hope to see you again soon.

Kind regards

Just recently stayed at the Westin Sydney in one of the upper floors that allows club privileges. Whilst still a great hotel the rooms are becoming slightly aged. Besides this the Hotel is still up there with the better hotels in Sydney. An enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: An upper floor room will give some view of the city

I booked this hotel to take my husband away for a night. We have stayed at the Westin before and I loved it, comfortable beds, great shower and spacious room. Unfortunately this trip I left my Tiffany & Co earrings in the room when we checked out and noticed half an hour after we left. I called the hotel as soon as I realised and they advised that they would check the room. When they called me back they said that three people had searched the room and there was no sign of my earrings which means that somebody (not accusing anyone!!) has taken them. The hotel told me all I could do was file a police report. I am not happy as these earrings were a 21st birthday gift and I am 150% sure that I left them on the bedside table. If you are paying for a 5 star hotel you would expect five star service.. Not for your jewelry to be stolen!!

Dear Dianne1992

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us and we are naturally sorry to learn of your disappointment. As mentioned by our Service Associate on Saturday we have examined our records and discussed with our relevant managers the details surrounding the lost property item. We regret to advise that we are not in possession of your earrings and we are very sorry this has quite naturally, caused you concern and disappointment.

We would like to thank you for bringing your experience to our attention and we hope to be of service to you again in the future.

Kind regards

Felt very safe as only hotel guests with room keys can use the lifts, and also the key will only allow access to the floor their room is on. THE BED WAS SUPER COMFORTABLE!!! Really loved the breakfast selection as well, especially the eggs benedict yums. Minus point for not providing us with toothbrushes and toothpaste, and we had to request for those. But they responded to our request very quickly so it was ok. There's a supermarket about 5mins away, think it was called Coles. Also very near Sydney Opera House, Darling Harbour (Hurricane's Grill ribs are awesome!). Walking distance to The Rocks, about 10mins away. There's the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, and also Pancakes On The Rocks :D Head in the opposite direction and you can visit Queen Victoria Building where there are alot of shops. Definitely a great location. Also, front desk staff are very efficient and friendly :)

Either the heritage or tower rooms you can't go wrong. Truly luxurious, every room is your own private resort . Well worth the tariff and so close to a number of attractions and eateries. We will be returning.

There was a wow factor at every turn when we checked into this hotel after a long drive from central NSW. We had chosen a last minute secret deal and were delighted with the Westin for its location and obviously the value for a five star hotel. We chose to park our car for two days in the nearby Angel Place Wilson car park for $25 a day rather than the valet parking at $65 a day. We were delighted to be allocated an upgrade to a luxurious room with a surreal view of the huge clock face of the old GPO. Sheer blinds provided privacy and the clock stopped chiming late at night. For two days we did not hear any other guests. A treat was having a nice deep bath with a glass wall to the bedroom enabling a soothing soak while still watching the TV. We enjoyed the space to either work at a desk, or sit in the sunshine in a leather lounge chair with a footrest to read after a day out and about.
Our only annoyance was a charge of $20 for WiFi use in our room. After travelling throughout France, and through country NSW where we had found WiFi free in all hotels, it seemed a bit of an insult to go down to the lobby and perch on a lounge and coffee table to get the free WiFi. Then it took a helpful youthful staff member three attempts to get WiFi to work. It shouldn't be that hard.
There were several eating options within the hotel and in the GPO basement, but it is our inclination to go walking in the morning to find a buzzy local café and good coffee rather than pay high prices for the same thing.
In summary, a delightful experience at a good price if you can get it.
