My flight into Sydney was an early arrival. I had requested early check-in, ubderstandably I was told there could be be a gaurentee but they would try. On arrival I was assigned a room and check-in was quick. All staff that I interacted with were cordial and willing to provide assistance.

The only negative was the shower, that changed temperatures constant. But that was something very minor. I will highly reccomend this hotel.

Ok the Westin is usually excellent, great brand and always delivers right?...not always.

We booked a room with 2 kids and were presented with two small double beds, not 2 queens which would of been acceptable. An extra roll away bed was A$90 a night and much needed. Rooms were not the largest but it is central CBD so allowable.

Breakfast is expensive at A$40pp so don't bother, out of the hotel there are lots of independent cafés for breakfast and all that we tried were excellent.

Pool and gym are not the hotels but rather the fitness club next door, maze to find it and only a sprint pool so be ready to do your laps and get out.

Staff very helpful, usual Westin charm so all good there.

Would we stay again....no. Intercontinental has bigger rooms and better breakfast just a few roads out of the CBD but give it a look.

After several stays at the Westin in Melbourne, this is my second stay at the Westin Sydney. It was a bit hit and miss this time, mostly hit though. On arrival as I walked through the front doors a staff member looked at me and walked back inside (?) and I eventually acknowledged by a concierge. Check in staff seemed 'disappointed' to be at work, and check in process was very robotic and not the usual welcoming personable welcome I expect at Westin.
Room was clean and comfortable as always. Room service is becoming frightfully expensive, with the only dessert listed on the menu actually available was gelato or sorbet. Breakfast buffet superb, staff were very attentive and friendly, going out of their way to ensure I was bid a fond farewell. The other saving grace was concierge again. After a stiflingly hot forecast, returning to the hotel after my morning run I was thinking how lovely it would be to be greeted with some water, and low and behold as if reading my mind, the concierge greeted me with a face towel and water! This is the typical service experience I expect at the Westin and why I return, so thanks to this Gentleman, my experience was improved.

I stay at the Westin because of their heavenly beds.......well the Finance Director has obviously had their way as the beds are now completely different and certainly not heavenly. There is no longer the thick mattress pad or soft cotton sheets.

These have been replaced with a thin and bumpy mattress protector that doesn't even fit the bed and over-starched sheets which feel really hard (see pic). So you have a horrible sleeping experience.

I have just come from the Westin Melbourne which still has the thick mattress pads and even leave 2 bottles of complementary water in your room every day, Sydney do not even do that, though arguable the Sydney climate demands this more.

I asked house keeping to come up to the room, they sent a guy who barely understood English and after too and froing I got offered another mattress protector which i took as it was the 'best they could do'

I even tried to buy one from him (they sell them online for A$125 which I would have happily paid just for a good nights sleep) but 'they don't stock them in the hotel'. So you can buy a better experience online then you get in person! Talk about profiteering.

I will never stay at a Westin again. If the CEO reads this, please please stop letting the finance department run your hotels, it is impacting customer experience in a big way. I may mean nothing in the grand scheme of Westin revenue, but how many other people are walking away without saying anything? You have been overtaken by QT hotel, Langham (which apparently also has its own bed made which suspiciously feel like the old style heavenly beds) and others. You were once the leader but not anymore.

Reception staff were friendly, bar staff were also friendly but not great service.

Dear JasonandSally

Thank you for sharing your feedback following your recent stay at The Westin Sydney. We are appreciative your comments and naturally disappointed you were not totally satisfied with your experience with our signature Heavenly® Beds. It is currently our practice to use a mattress protector on our Westin Heavenly® Beds and we regret this was not up to your liking on this occasion. Rest assured we will share your comments with our team and will certainly take this to account when we next review our offering. As a Silver Certified Earth Check property we have taken the step to remove complimentary bottled water from the majority of our guest rooms. This will avoid thousands of plastic bottles being released into the environment each year. Please rest assured that turn down service is still available, however on a request basis. Upon your next stay please do advise your preference for this service. Thank you for your recommendations and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back soon.

Kind regards

From the moment you walk in this a service focused hotel. The staff were attentive and friendly. I arrived 3 hours before checkin and I was given a room with no fuss. The rooms were spacious and clean. The bedding was very comfortable with luxurious linens. The bathroom was large with a separate toilet, rain shower and large tub. The public areas were light and airy. The location is perfect for tourists. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definately return next time I visit Sydney.

Having stayed at the Westin Melbourne many times we were disappointed in staying in Sydney. The housekeeping not up to scratch a coffee cup left half full on a table for 3 days.Milk and coffee not replenished. Also we had very noisy young people who were screaming and yelling in the halls 2 nights very late when we were trying to sleep with young children. We did complain but it continued the following night
Disappointing stay .The upside general staff very friendly and helpful.
