“Top class business hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

Convenient location, room was in fine shape. Gym was quite a trek to get too, and pool rather tiny (12-15m, 3 lanes). Only other complaint is the coffee was crappy instant stuff, and they provided plunger coffee for in the minibar for $12. To me a $300 room should provide decent in room coffee and tea, not charge extra for it. Sheraton is providing plunger coffee these days and their rates are $150-250 most places.

Room Tip: High floors have better views.

Came over to watch the all blacks. Loved the hotel, stayed 4 nights. Lovely staff . Room didn't have a view , but we didn't stay in sydney, to spend our time looking out the hotel.
Location was central, 15 min to the ferries. Catch a taxi to darling harbour, it will cost $10.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room that gets some sun and not the next building

Staying here for 5 nights. Have stayed here a few times previously but never again. $65 to park the car (valet or self).$42 for buffet breakfast with NO continental option (A La Carte of course , but again, painfully expensive ..$10 for just Toast alone!) Tried to get a coffee to go at breakfast this morning. Was told that it was not possible as they do "not have a licence for takeaway foods"!!! But I could get the coffee on Roomservice (no doubt after I took out a small mortgage!!)
The Parking Attendant told me I could "park down the road for $25 , or be like him, & not own a car!!" Very helpful. The final straw was the housemaid waki ng me this morning, when the "Do not Disturb" lamp outside the door was clearly showing DO NOT DISTURB.Of all the Westins in the world that I frequent, this should be the nicest experience. But unfortunately it has been the worst. Finale for me .

Location is the best thing about this hotel. Whether you are in Sydney for business or pleasure you are relatively close to everything in a very central location. Service is brisk and not necessarily friendly but at least things get done. Everything works well, etc...but the rooms feel a bit dated now. Room service takes a long time.

We decided to spend our last two days in Sydney at the Westin before we flew back to India for good. The room as expected was exceptional. I totally loved the bath! Our window faced office building so no views really, but being in the heart of the city made up for me.

The hotel has a wonderful bar in the basement which we visited for our last few Aussie beers.

All in all, a great hotel, just ask for a room with a view. Also, the buffet breakfast could be better.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view - it will be worth it!

Checked into the Westin and only a Heritage Room was available, third floor and facing George St. What a disappointment double glazing seemed to increase road noise, and as reported earlier a persistent banging during the night. At 1000 hrs begged reception to change my room, which I hate doing in any hotel, to be told they would transfer my luggage to the Tower rooms while I was out. Returned over 5 hours later to find that my luggage was still in the old room, with little obvious effort to effect a rapid change, had to express my unfavourable comments to the duty manager. Also I understood by joining SPG (their members club) a 1600 hrs late checkout was possible but was informed this was not the case, therefore exactly what merit is there in joining SPG if there are no upgrades/late checkouts for members.

Room Tip: Do not go into Heritage part of the hotel at all, stick to the Tower rooms only

Bar and restaurant staff are extremely rude, and show bad attitude when asked for basic services, e.g. for bread with a $50 meal, and then butter for the bread. Many restaurant managers would fire staff for less, yet in this so-called 5-star hotel management simply does not care. They also systematically overcharge at bar. Very disappointing.
