“Perfect location, great room (SPG Upgrade) friendly and helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

I stayed here on arrival in Sydney in hopes of it being comfortable and quiet so I could beat the jet lag. Great on both counts. Bathroom was excellent and enormous with rain shower. Only slight negatives were: lifts were slow to arrive and the pool/gym is located accross an atrium, apparently in another building (its all covered between the two though) it was just a bit confusing getting over there.

Dear Nicholas P

Thank you for sharing your comments following your recent stay at The Westin Sydney. We are delighted we could provide a comfortable haven for you to recharge after your flight. Thank you for your observations regarding the elevators and separately operated GoodLife Health Club, we regret that you found the access to the health club confusing. When you get to Sydney after a 26-hour trip, you need a nice quiet place to relax and get ready for the next day. That is exactly what we got at the Westin Sydney Hotel. Everything was perfect. I loved Martin Place. The hotel is close to everything. We had breakfast at the hotel every morning. It was so good !!! The buffet is amazing !!! The room was big, the bathroom huge. And it was very quiet so we could have a great night sleep to recuperate.

Stayed here overnight when I went to the good food and wine festival. Love the bathroom with the rainshower and big bathtub. Great location for the cbd. Mid-week stays are better priced. Buffet breakfast is worth while adding.

I returned to stay at the Westin Sydney after several years absence and was pleased to find that it still maintained the same high standards I remembered from previous visits. I stayed for the first time in one of Heritage rooms in the former Post Office building and the high ceilings and elegant furnishings were a nice surprise. The hotel location is excellent, as most attractions and business areas are just a short walk away. There is a nice vibe about the hotel as it contains public spaces but is never too noisy. Minor quibbles would be the 20 dollar charge for WiFi and and he A/C was rattling a bit during the night.

Room Tip: The Heritage rooms are worth asking for.

We stayed at this hotel over a weekend. Situated in Martin Place the hotel is very central. The lobby area is attractive and the room was attractive and spacious. The bathroom, which was also spacious, had a glass wall through to the bedroom. The blind between the two was adequate for the day but useless at night so that when someone went to the bathroom during the night, the bedroom was flooded with light. Parking costs were more than double those that we have paid before in central Sydney. Despite asking numerous times we were never given a correct answer on the cost and in fact we were incorrectly told that it would be cheaper to leave the car in place over the weekend. Also, the air conditioning in the room made a constant buzzing noise.

Dear CanberraJenny

Thank you for sharing your comments online following your recent stay at The Westin Sydney. We are pleased you could take advantage of our central location and enjoyed the design of our rooms. Thank you for sharing your observations regarding the blind, air conditioning and the cost of parking. The Secure Parking facility is operated independently to The Westin Sydney however we are fortunate to have a negotiated rate of $65 per 24 hour period for hotel guests, we apologise this was not effectively communicated to you. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and we hope to welcome you back in the near future.

First of all let me say that this is not our first rodeo... My partner and I have been to more than 72 countries and counting. So we were really excited to our first trip to Sydney and to return to Australia.

We had a cruise tour combined for 20 people (our family and friends) so my partner and I decided to fly out ahead to have some extra time. We went to Uluru and we had planned 1 night at the Westin before getting on a 12 night cruise with our group.

When we checked into flight from Uluru to Sydney I got an email saying that we had failed to show up so we were charged the points for the night as well as a cancellation fee to be determined by the hotel.

I immediately freaked out and contacted the hotel. It turns out we had mixed up the date for Sydney and put it for the wrong date. I was very embarrassed but never ready for the response from the Westin wich was pretty much your points are gone! plus we will charge you a 300 and something no show fee plus the night that you actually need. I was in shock!!!! So I called SPG... They contacted the hotel directly and told me not to worry... After what seemed like an eternity the SPG lady came back saying that she had never seen anything like that and that the Hotel was refussing to work with us.

To this date I was able to work with them to get rid of the no show fee, but in the end I didn't like the arrogant and demeaning attitude of the Westin staff so we decided to stay at the Langham instead. We paid way more but I don't think it was right to pay the Westin $1.00 after they were so inflexible and punitive with us.

I understand that had we booked the night correctly none of this would have happened, however I was expecting also a more understanding approach from their staff and some willingness to meet us half way.

Normally my favourite in Sydney - best location, central to everything you would want, modern contemporary design, fresh open inviting lobby, great place to meet people.comfortable and spacious rooms, easy to sleep, It would be perfect but for a few little details.
As a creature of habit, I have a routine - used to enjoy my Platinum "free" water after a night dining, wake up early, read the papers, have a swim, go to breakfast in the lounge etc.etc.
Probably boring but trips to the Westin have always been a habit.
On arrival, there is no friendly greeting like Brad and Ian at the Westin in Melbourne or Tony at Four Points - you just feel like another client.
The lounge wasn't prepared for my wife's allergies like on previous trips - typically, I used to get a note saying welcome back and we are ready for your wife.
There was no Platinum water - the explanation was that they were being environmentally responsible and not supplying plastic bottles - the Westin in Melbourne still does it and interestingly, they still have bottles for $7.
There were no papers in the morning so I had to wait for breakfast and so headed to the pool - it wasn't open till 8.00 am though so all my routines had disappeared.None of these individually
matter, probably trivial but when you travel as much as we do, little things tend to matter.

Room Tip: Depends on your priorities - both wings are different and wonderful - tower wing is more contemporar...

Dear RonWamberal

Thank you for detailing your feedback following your most recent stay at The Westin Sydney. We are pleased to be your favourite hotel in Sydney however disappointed that we did not exceed your expectations on this occasion. As mentioned we have taken the step to remove bottled water from our guest rooms to avoid tens of thousands of plastics bottles being released into the environment each year, we do however have bottled water for purchase for our guests who prefer this option. Rest assured we have shared your further observations with our Executive Lounge Manager and Porter team to address accordingly. We are genuinely appreciate of the time you have taken to convey your feedback and hope to welcome both you and your wife back again soon.

Kind regards
