“Great location in Sydney”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Situated in the heart of the CBD, the Westin is within walking distance of the shops, Circular Quay, and Darling Harbour.

Rooms are modern, clean and have a great layout. Ask for the room with the glass wall in the bathroom and you can enjoy a relaxing bubble bath while watching TV.

Recent additions are cables to link your iPod or iPad the Bose CD clock radio, so you can play your own music.

Great gym, including a small indoor pool. Staff are super helpful. The only downside if you happen to stay regularly is that the in room. Dining menu never seems to change.

Room Tip: Frequent visitors benefit from upgrades. Book room with glass bathroom if you want to enjoy bubble...

Check-in was relatively fuss free but counter staff did not make any effort to make me feel welcomed after a long flight... no smiles at all. You have to book the night before if you want to check-in early. (I checked-in at 9am).
Had to lug my own luggage upstairs. Tower rooms are not really sound proof. I can hear my neighbours' door slammed close all the time while in my room and the air con makes some noises at night too.
Housekeeping staffs need to work much harder. On one occasion they left a bag of trash in my room beside the door (I think they forgot about clearing it after taking it out of the bin). You could tell that the bathroom floor was not cleaned daily.
Over-rated, overpriced. Good location no doubt.

We loved our stay in a heritage room/suite on New Year's day. This was our first hotel on our vacation- and it turned out to be our favorite property. The room was spacious with a wonderful bathroom and closet suite. The sleeping quality was superb with excellent chilly air conditioning and the most comfortable bed on the whole trip. We stayed at the Radisson Blu Sydney at the end of our three weeks and it does not even come close to the luxurious qualities of the Westin Sydney. The staff was helpful and gracious and the front desk girl gave us pointers on things to do in her home town of Palm Cove. The architectural aspects of the property were very intriguing. They did a splendid job of juxtaposing the historic with the contemporary. It has an excellent location on Martin Place--and it is a quick walk to major attractions and endless shopping. They had a huge workout facility with 30 plus cardio machines and endless free weights.Compare that to a small outdated dirty room with only 5 at the Radisson blu. The Westin is the place to stay in Sydney.

Room Tip: We loved the heritage rooms.

Booked a secret deal and was very impressed. The location was great for shopping and also not too far to walk to Circuliar Quay and Darling Harbour. Staff were very helpful and friendly and brekky in the morning was great. A very nice relaxing weekend.

If you read my reviews you know that I am tough on hotels. This one really lived up to my expectations. The property is so beautiful one of the best I have every stayed in. This was a discounted stay and yet they still upgraded my room as I am a Gold member and they gave me 50% off in their restaurant. Prior to this stay I felt I really didnt get much benefit from my status with Starwood. However after this stay I will be sticking with Starwood. The room was clean, roomy and elegant. The staff was very friendly. They were ready for our early check in, the room was feather free as I had requested. Our bags were brought up to our room in a timely manner. The food in the restaurant was delicious. I cant say enough about this property. If you are on the fence about this one, you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Contact this hotel before your stay if you have specific request. They are very responsive. Get the...

Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights over new year. We payed a lot of money for this hotel and was not disappointed. The hotel is ideally located and as the concierge told us everything is within a ten minute walk, her wasn't lying. The Room was a good size with a lush bathroom. The Bath was huge and the rain shower was amazing. We also had a lovely view of the clock tower. I can not fault this hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

The reviews I have read on this site are all pretty accurate - the Westin is a good, well-located hotel; however, I feel it is very much geared to business travellers who can add the $42 breakfast, $65 parking, $20 internet access and $7 bottled water to their expense accounts.
Comments about reception are pretty accurate too - some were very helpful, some less so - on check-out I asked for my bill to be charged to a different card - they swiped the card, but still charged it to the one used to guarantee the room - a little more attention to detail would have been nice.
