“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

Despite being on the water the room views are mainly of the warehouse on the next pier(the opera house and Bridge are on the other side)
Beware the toilets they are the noisiest I have heard like one in a plane and you can hear neighboring one quite easily
Phone reception unless near a window is very poor despite being in the middle of Sydney so for get using you smartphone for internet and no wiFi in room.
They have free wifi in restaurant but not at breafast (go figure)

Our room was lovely - the bathroom large with a bath. The satff were very efficient and helpful. The only downside was the non- acceptance of our Accor Advantage Plus. The hotel is now part of the Accor group - but not really??? We went to use our card at breakfast and were told we were unable to take advantage of our usual savings - this was a annoying. We were told that the full change over has not yet taken place although when I booked i did ask if we were geeting the Accor rate and was told that the rate quoted was better!! so hopefully they will have sorted out the adminstration side of thing sooner rater than later.

We stayed here on our wedding night and we were really underwhelmed. This hotel is relying heavily on its location, and for the price it has a number of shortcomings.

The room was adequate (be sure to get one with a view...). The finishes in the bathroom are beginning to age, with a noisy exhaust duct (waste pipe?) interrupting our sleep. The electronic door access to the room needs some serious review, we had trouble getting into our room every time.

The complementary breakfast was average, at best.

We recently stayed at a similar style of resort in Bali, and I know it would be difficult in Sydney to compete on price but the service and experience we had in Bali was infinitely superior. If they want to charge these high rates they need to back it up with exceptional service and interior design.

We booked 4 nights at the Sebel as had reason to catch the ferry to the Northshore on three of those days. The location is great as long as you are happy to take a beautiful walk!! We could access Circular Quay and Wynyard easily and with sunny, albeit chilly weather, it was a joy. There is a great walk to Darling Harbour from the hotel.
I had booked a heritage room and to my dismay, there was no view at all. One had to stand on a chair to look out the high windows and the view was a brick wall or something similar (not sure actually) we contacted the staff who were great and we were moved to a room on the ground floor. It opened right onto the pier which was totally public but preferable to the heritage room and rather quirky. Of course we had to pay more!! The web site does not indicate that heritage rooms look onto bricks so check this out before you book.
The bathroom was rather tired and the shower is over the bath with an old look plastic shower curtain and no grab rails.
We had several meals in the restaurant which were pretty good and with great service. The breakfast is dull.
Overall it is a good hotel in a great location if you want to be in the Rocks. It is expensive but that is Sydney. Make sure you get a room with a view as the alternative is dark and gloomy
Would we stay there again? Maybe.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view that's for sure.

I purchased a special deal from Travelzoo that included buffet BR which was a decent deal.
Room: old-fashioned as the building was old pier converted to hotel. The view was partially obstructed by huge metal frames.
Location: it's located below the Harbour bridge and its quite dark as the street is very dark at night and felt unsafe walking back to hotel from the Circular Quay (which is within walking distance).
Food: decent
Service: only stayed two nights but the computer in the business room couldn't print. Staff was helpful in assisting with printing what I needed.
Overall, decent hotel but I wouldn't pay full price to stay here as there are many hotels worth your money else where (I highly recommend the Darling Harbour area).

We stayed in 2009, and decided to return in 2012. We were able to get a cosy 'winter weekend' package. The nice touch was the Manager wrote on a card , welcoming us back, even though we didn't mention this when booking. Not onlt that we were provided the same room. Look, this place is just fantastic. Close enough to walk to all Sydney, but tucked away in Walsh Bay so traffic and noise is a minimum. We also had the buffet breeky, and i can say that the choice is very varied. great selection of hot or cold food/cereal/fruit, and you willnot have to have lunch. There are many little eateries now in Walsh Bay, and the Sydney Dance Company is clsoe by. We went to South Pacific @ Opera House and walked around in about 20 mins, had supper at Hyatt (Dawes Point) after show. All in all a great weekend, but the highlight was Sebel Pier One. Great service from all staff (reception, bar, dining, housekeeping). Concierge service is also high standard. If you ever have the opportunity to stay in Sydney, i would recommed this hotel.... you will not be disappointed. (Thanks guys)

Room Tip: Walsh Bay View.... unbeatable
