“Well located hotel, not quite up to standard expected”

The charming hotel is located close to the old Rocks area with many shops cafes restaurants and boutiques. Having stayed at the Langham Melbourne I expected top class throughout. However there were a number of issues: I was given a smoking room without warning which had been disguised with a pleasant scent that wore off quickly. The room was tired, but the usual amenities were excellent and the bed was comfortable. Room service breakfast was a mixture - eggs were freshly done, there was very small serve of smoked salmon, coffee was OK, but there was no salt and pepper on the tray and after being told the breakfast would be ready shortly, the service was actually slow. Business meeting meals were reasonable but fresh fruit was omitted from the order, leaving only cakes on one morning tea. Hotel meals were expensive. Overall I would try somewhere else in Sydney on next visit.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask on checkin if you dont want a smoking room!

We were very pleasantly surprised to find ourselves staying at this hotel after booking a secret hotel deal on Wotif. It has the lovely feel of a boutique hotel. Huge room with very comfortable twin beds (king singles) and a view towards Darling Harbour. It is so lovely to walk into the foyer of any Langham hotel with the wonderful flower arrangements and signature scent. All the staff were welcoming and helpful. A special mention to the staff in the Globe Bar who made our stay so pleasant and memorable. We ate in the Bar each night we stayed there and nothing was too much trouble. Yes, the food is expensive but it was very nice and convenient. The hotel is well located a short walk from The Rocks, and Circular Quay. We would stay there again, especially at the secret hotel rate.

Stayed at the Langham for 2 nights in November. We got this on a secret wotif deal ( still around $300/ night for basic room no breakfast/ wifi etc).
My first impression was WOW , beautiful hotel, full of old charm. Concierge very helpful, took bags parked car ( $100 for 2 nights parking). Check in staff polite and helpful.
The room was large, bathroom amenities were fantastic, and free bottled water! The bed was large and comfortable.
Our main issue were insect bites. On the first night we both were bitten terribly, i ended up with welts on my legs, we weren't sure what caused this, but knew happened in the room. The weekend was pouring and we did not open outdoor windows at all.
2nd night same thing, but this time we received no sleep at all as there were mosquitos buzzing all around us.
We complained on checkout. Our response was " well we are in a mosquito area" we felt quite dismissed.
Next complaint was breakfast. We were quoted $30pp on an email for breakfast, however were charged $45 pp.
The insect issue needs to be dealt with. We were in room 305. I have not as yet had a response from management whom i sent an email too.

Yes, mosquitos are a part of life in the tropics and particularly during the hot and humid summer weather, mosquitos are plentiful in Sydney. Our only thoughts is that these most unwelcome of guests came in through some of the terraces on the 3rd floor or balconies. This is a possible explanation as we do maintain a strict pest control schedule here at the hotel and the highest standards of cleanliness.

I do hope that despite this, you may come and experience The Langham, Sydney in the future. The experience that you had with our staff in the short time is a reflection of the wonderful service that we offer here at The Langham, Sydney.

The Langham is an elegant and graceful hotel with superb amenities. It has old world charm and is located centrally in the old town area of Sydney. Within one mile walk, you can access all of the old world areas of Sydney. Meals in the Langham are too expensive, but nearby restaurants provide breakfast, lunch and dinner at more reasonable prices. My wife and I loved our room. It was spacious and comfortable and quiet.

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent. For security, you can only access your floor, which is excellent.

This hotel has a lot to recommend it. The location is good just a short walk to the rocks and a slightly longer walk to Darling Harbour.

The decor was gentlemans club and although tired in some areas the overall impression was very good and exceptionally clean

The harbour view room we had was very spacious with an excellent bathroom, and good quality toiletries. The view was a little industrial but illustrated the origins of Sydney as a working port. The bed and pillows were simply the most comfortable I have ever slept on

The staff with the exception of a rather aloof receptionist were friendly, eager to please and efficient, especially the wait and concierge staff.

The breakfast was a sumptuous affair although slightly disappointing that cooked option wasn't prepared to order and guests really deserve better than to have to prepare their own toast on inadequate domestic toasters!!!!!!!

The biggest drawback was the rigid check in policy. Arriving at 8.30.am. After a 24 hour flight we were sternly told that it was not possible to have a room until 3.00.pm. We were offered use of the spa to freshen up but it wasn't really adequate. We have visited Sydney several times under similar circumstances and not once before had difficulty getting early room access and this, despite all the good points will deter me from using the hotel again, (although we staying as part of our journey home later this month)

Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee early check in, particularly because we are currently in peak season and only a 96 room hotel it is difficult to turn rooms around before our check-in time of 3pm if we have experienced 100% capacity the night previously. However, we always endeavour to turn around early arrival rooms as efficiently as possible.

Wow. Thank you Langham Sydney. Impressive world class service combined with interior room fit out attention to detail makes this hotel experience high end luxury. The guest rooms are fabulous.....large bath and a rain shower in the vast marble bathroom, not to mention extremely comfortable and plush bedding and pampered pooch friendly rooms. Valet car service a must for interstate drivers - what a lovely welcome I received after the drive from Canberra. The tea room is quaint and serves proper French champagne with the high tea service. All of the staff I encountered went above and beyond. I will be back soon! You have a new regular client in me.

The Langham would be one of the top Hotels I have ever stayed out. Very affordable for what you get and the exemplary service from the staff. As soon as you pull up (if you are driving) someone is waiting for you to collect you car. The Foyer boasts a range of old stylish furniture, comfortable lounges and artwork lining the walls. I had one of the lower costing rooms, but yet was amazed by the space of each room. The room had a King Size Bed, elegant desk to work from, a bathroom with Marble tops. The buffet breakfast is set in this beautiful, stylish room with elegant furniture. It is the first time I have had staff bringing you general things from the Buffet, so you are well looked after. Full marks to this Hotel as well an extremely well-managed staff who look after all of your needs.
