Owner description: At 250 metres above street level, Sydney Tower Eye is the highest point in Sydney - perfect for finding your bearings or just taking it all in. It's the perfect place to start your Sydney adventure. With views stretching out as far as the eye can see in all directions, there's no better place to find your bearings. Sydney Tower Eye is a true year-round visitor attraction. Gazing out across the beautiful harbour city you'll be captivated by the views of stunning Sydney in all its glory. Crystal clear skies in winter make for the best viewing distances of the year, while in Spring the explosion of Jackaranda Trees covers the Eastern Suburbs in vibrant splashes of purple. Sydney is at its best in Summer, and guests soak up the city's laid back Summer vibe from the cool air-conditioned deck as the streets swelter below. Autumn brings gorgeous orangey glows and the best sunsets of the year - the perfect time to head out on a SKYWALK for 'that' picture of the city and harbour in the background.

How often do you come to Sydney? Don't be cheap. It is worth the $26. Absolutely amazing views of the city you will not see anywhere else. The ambience is also great with the type of music that plays as you make your way up to the top. The 4d experience is actually pretty cool as well, as you can get an idea of what other areas of Sydney you may want to visit. I am shocked this is not a top 10 must do in Sydney.

“Sydney Tower Eye”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

Paid $26 to go up the Tower. Felt price is bit expensive. Security was a joke, put your bag in a tray and then just handed back to you without inspection. Have your photo taken on arrival for on selling when you leave. Photos are $40 for the book, expensive for what they are. Elevator supervisor guides you to the empty elevators, waste of personnel. Arrived on tower and just joined the line (what Aussie doesn't go to the back of the line). Didn't know what we were lining up for, presumed only a certain no of people were allowed on the tower at any one time. But no we were waiting for the 4D movie. Didn't really enjoy the movie, sitting rails not suitable for the elderly or those with slight handicaps. Views from the tower were lovely, we had a clear day so could see for miles. Sign there to do do yoga from the tower, that would be amazing. We were time limited so only spent about 10 minutes upstairs so for us the price was expensive. Although once you've done a circuit of the tower what else do you do so don't think we would have spent much more time there even if we could have. When you get back downstairs you have staff trying to sell you the photos. I've done it, but wouldn't do it again when I next visit Sydney. You could say I've ticked it off my bucket list.

“Good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

We bought the 5 attractions combo (Wildlife, Madam Tussade, Aquarium, Manly sealife and Sydney tower) for the price of 3 attractions for AUD $63 which was really worth it. Sydney tower was great fun, you get an introduction with a 4D video that is quite bad in quality but still good fun. Next you get in one of the lifts to the observation deck, which gives you amazing views of all round Sydney. There is a small shop that is not to over priced and you can purchase stamps for postcards and send them from the post box near the shop. Overall good value for great views.

If you desperately want to look at the dirty tops of commercial skyscrapers, then this is for you, but as a tourist attraction it is much better to look AT the tower than to look down from it.
For what it is, it is very overpriced. They try to make it out to be so much more than it is. Firstly you have to walk through a dark corridor where there are some posters on the wall showing the towers of the world (hint, this tower is the smallest of them all). Then they make you sit on a steel bar and watch a very bad 80s quality 3D movie, which is totally uninformative and makes no attempt at being interesting. The movie is of a computer generated parrot flying around sydney. They call it a "4D experience" because while you're watching the movie they splash some water in your face when the parrot flies near the ocean - yes it's as great as it sounds. Then you walk through another corridor which is all just photographs from the set of their terrible movie.
Then they make you stand in front of a green wall and take your photo so they can very badly chroma key in a background and try to sell you the picture. All of this also appears to be a ploy to slow you down and make you feel like you've got your money's worth.
Oh my favourite part was the phoney security screening. They make you put all your stuff in a tray, just like at an airport, and walk through a metal detector. I walked through with a metal belt buckle and it didn't detect it. Also the stuff you put in the tray such as bags etc... doesn't go through an x-ray, they just hand it back to you on the other side of the metal detector. They even have an actor there playing a security guard.
Most of the staff there have the job of being elevator experts. When the empty elevator doors open they point to it, so that you know you can go in the elevator. When the elevator is full they tell you that the elevator is full. When the elevator opens they point along the cordoned walkway leading from the elevator where you can walk. You paid for that.
The view at the top of the tower is just as you'd expect, nothing more. There are free mounted binocular telescopes which don't fit anyone's face, and of course multiple gift shops.
You don't learn anything, there are no tour guides, and the experience with the stupid movie, fake security screening, and bad greenscreen will leave you baffled.

HI Sam F
Thank you for your review of your experience at The Sydney Tower Eye. It’s disappointing to read that you really didn't enjoy it.

You made a number of comments about the different elements of the experience of which I will be following up with the relevant depts.

We use an external security company so I will be addressing your concerns with them.

As to the 4D show we do get a lot of positive comments from our guests especially our younger guests and although it may not be educational it is set out to be entertaining and to act as an introduction to the view you are about to see.

And unfortunately I can not change the view of the city, but am saddened to read you didn't think it was that impressive. We pride ourselves on having one of the best views in the city but again this may come down to personal opinion.

If you are ever in Sydney again let us know as we also offer free tours on obs deck at certain times of the day and I would like to invite you along.

Kind regards
