“Pleasantly surprised”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2010

We stayed overnight in Sydney, stopping over for a trip to New Zealand. Sure the hotel wasn't huge, however this is down town Sydney and the room met our needs perfectly. It was comfortable and well maintained (don't mind if the decor is a bit of date, but hate it when a five star hotel is shabby). The bed and pillows were great, and the bath for those of you who bathe good too. Room service was okay but not so good if you are on a diet or at least trying to be vaguely healthy. Check out and in was easy, although I can see how it might be problematic when busy (small lobby). Had mixed feelings about staying here, as I have stayed in some Radisson's elsewhere in Australia that are just awful. The same cannot be said for this Radisson and I would happily stay here again.

Arrived at Circular Quey early on Good Friday morning. Rang the hotel to ask if we could check in early, this was no problem. Upgraded to an executive room for 65AU$ this inluded breakfast and a two hour cocktail package. Walked to hotel with cases took less than ten minutes. Breakfast was good, alhtough we could eat in the small executive lounge we prefered the main resteraunt as more choice. The cocktail package was between 1800-2000 weekdays and 1730-1930 weekends. Unfortunatley, we found the earlier time unsuitable as most people in the hotel were tourists and out sightseeing or on trips arriving back to the hotel late. (This may be the hotels idea as not to open too many bottles of spirit)
However, apart from this the hotel was in a great area, less than 10mins from Circular Quay and the gateway to all transport, rail, ferries and buses. We enjoyed wandering around the Rocks and browsing the market and a Guiness or two in the Irish Bars.
The staff were friendly and could not do enough for us. The room was not to large but clean, modern and comfortable. A large bathtub and walk in shower. Only one problem bathrobes come in one size only extra small.
On returning home I recieved a questionaire from the group, having filled this in and suggested larger bathrobes I had a reply from the manager imediatley advising that this had been forwarded to housekeeping. Nice to think that the manager actually does read the reviews.
Free internet access came in handy.
All in all I would definatley stay at the Raddison Plaza if I were to visit Sydney again.

We stayed at the Radisson Plaza in Sydney for 14 nights whilst visiting our son. This is an absolutely brilliant hotel, located in central business district 5 minutes walk from all the attractions. The advantage to being in the CBD is that there is no traffic noise out of business hours. This is so close to everything there is no need for taxis and we felt really safe even when walking back to the hotel late at night. We had a large two double bedded with room with really comfortable beds and a great bathroom with separate walk in shower. Shower gel and other toiletries replaced every day and some really nice personal touches of a gift of some very up market bath products as we were on an extended stay and a chocolate bunny as we were there over Easter. All the staff are friendly, efficient and very approachable. The hotel seems to be smaller that many others in the area, but with all the same amenities - pool, health and beauty facilities, restaurant and bar. It is in a really interesting old building which once housed a Sydney newspaper. One of the key advantages to this hotel - and don't be put off by this - is that it seems to be primarily used by business people. This means that it is quiet (you haven't got lots of comings and goings over night) and the excellent sound insulation means that you can't hear what is going on in the next room. If we were looking to go back to Sydney we would certainly use this hotel and on the basis of our experience will be looking to use Radisson Hotels in other cities.

Stayed here for a weekend when going to a wedding in Sydney.

The rooms are great - high ceiling boutique kind of place. It is in a nice old building and they have kept that feel. That being said the facilities are modern, flat screen TVs, ipod docks, working desk and internet.

It is about 10 minutes walk from Circular Quay so you miss out on the noise at night but get a good location and good value. The restaurant is meant to be great although we didn't eat there, the bar is ok - but being that central in Sydney you would really only use it for a quick drink in my opinion.

Part of the deal was breakfast in the room - and this was brilliant one of the better hotel breakfasts I have had and in the room is a nice touch as they offer late checkout.

The only minor issue we had was waiting at the check in desk they were understaffed at a busy time of the day - also there is no dedicated Goldpoints check in you would expect that at a high end property and that is annoying for the gold members. That being said I filled in their online survey sent after the stay and got a prompt reply from the manager apologizing for the delays and saying he would address it. Whether they do or don't I don't know until I return but a simple reply was really appreciated.

Can't fault the place really - I have stayed at a lot of Radisson properties and this is a good one

Stayed here as I had a work function in the city.Normally stay at the Sheraton on the Park but booked here as it was the only hotel available on the same night of the Mardi Gras in Sydney.
It was in a good location.Close to the harbour. The lobby was nice but small and so was the room for that matter.Simple and not too many frills but I like frills at a 5star hotel.Service was very good by reception , restaurant and conceige.
PArking is expensive.Breakfast is good value , but I have had better buffet breakfast.
I would stay here again if I was on a budget and wanted 5star , although I wonder who rates hotels as this is not really a 5star hotel , probably 4.5 star.

I spent 2 nights at Raddison Hotel on March.
The location was great. Easy access to the Opera house, Sydney town hall, and so on.
The room was very clean with a huge bathroom.
Our kids were very happy to swim in the pool at night.
I thought this was one of the best hotels in Australia until a few weeks later when I found out that I was charged with the service that I didn't get.
I might stay at Raddison again, but I will be careful with the bill.

This hotel is an ideal base for Sydney. The rooms were spacious, contemporary but comfortable and clean and all staff including the concierge were really helpful. Breakfast was great as it was buffet style with lots of choice. Easy access to sightseeing in Sydney. We had no complaints and we'd definitely not hesitate to stay there again.
