“Awesome location & Fab staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

I will definitely stay here again, so close to everything, Sydney harbour, shopping, opera house. We had a very quite room, the best sleep I have ever had in a hotel. The room was very clean and tidy. The bathroom had a separate shower/bath and the shower had great pressure. We were right by the service lifts but didn't hear a thing. Good security at night, patrons have to swipe the room card to access the front doors. Didn't take my laptop but I think it was comp internet. Taxi to hotel was $50 for two and very friendly driver. Will stay again. Top of the list.

Had a great stay here at Radisson Blu. Took a cab from the airport to here, it was over $60 for four of us but the cost to take the airport train would have been comparable and didn't think it was worth the hassle for a family of four that just got off an international flight. But the subway stations were close by if you would like to go that route, it's probably cheaper for one or two people. The cab ride back to the airport was a lot cheaper though, I think we paid around $30-40.

The hotel was a few blocks from the Sydney Harbor. All you have to do it turn right from the main entrance of the hotel and immediately turn right and just go straight for a few blocks. It was less than a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Check in was fast and we were given a room right in front of the elevator. We were using points for our stay, thank you Club Carlson! I thought we'd hear elevator noises but it wasn't an issue at all.

The room was huge with super high ceiling. The bathroom was bright with a separate bathtub and shower. They had free wifi that was very strong. The beds were great but the beds are on wheels and moves easily, the next day the bed is about six inches away from the headboard and some of the pillows are there too, a minor inconvenience but would have been nice if the wheels were locked.

We checked out the pool and workout room and it looked exactly like the brochure. It was very clean.

This has nothing to do with the hotel but found the restaurants and convenience stores to be very pricey. Our typical breakfast was around $50 AUD for a family of four and we're not going in to any fancy restaurants even when we buy water and drinks at convenience stores were $30-40AUD. But this is Sydney after all. After a few days, we upgraded to their club lounge that offered free breakfast and light appetizer for dinner and sandwiches for lunch. I believe the upgrade was $90AUD which is a bargain coz we didn't have to pay for our food.

If you get a chance, rent a car for the day and drive to the Royal National Park, it's about an hour drive and definitely worth the anxiety of driving on the left side of the road. It's was beautiful, i'll post pics. We rented it at Avis at the Marriott Hotel on Pitt St. We picked it up in the morning drove to Royal National Park and returned it back that day.

We also bought an Optus sim for our phone for $2/day with unlimited data and talk and text in Australia at the airport. We used the Maps app as a GPS it was perfect. Phone must be completely unlocked though.

Would definitely stay here again, gonna need to accumulate Club Carlson points :-)

I stayed at the Radisson for 2 nights in February while in Sydney for work. The standards were nothing less than perfect.
My room was spacious and well appointed, with everything you could need. Everything was neat, clean and modern. I had a room on the Mezzanine level and have nothing to complain about. Also right around the corner from our Sydney offices!
Breakfast was excellent, so much to choose from. Room service was prompt and reasonably priced. The staff were fantastic! So helpful and attentive and polite. 5 star service. If work were always paying for me to go to Sydney I would stay there all the time! And have requested the Radisson for another work trip in July, can't wait to get back.

Stayed at the Radisson Blu on the weekend. Upon arrival, the valet is courteous and welcoming, the reception staff attentive and friendly. The rooms are lovely and the cocktail bar is fantastic for a relaxing evening.
All in all a great stay, one of the best I've had in Sydney - and I've stayed in a lot of hotels!

We stayed here for 4 nights in Feb. We had requested a high level room which was provided. What we didn't realise was that unless we upgraded the outlook from the one window was of close buildings and this made the room extremely dark, with the need to use lights night and day. Otherwise no complaints - the room and bathroom were large, staff helpful and professional. It's just worth checking room location. The location of the hotel is great -only a few minutes walk to the stunning Sydney harbour.

The sevice was excellent at both venues. As for the room, we could not fualt it. The bed was nice and inviting. My wife and I slept so deeply. Thanks goes to the staff of the hotel and if we ever stay in Sydney again we will deffinately be staying there. Highly recommened this hotel.

Getting There/Location Details

Getting to the hotel from SYD is very easy. Upon exiting customs, turn right and follow signs for "Sydney's Airport Train". The fare from SYD to downtown Sydney is AUD 16.70, and the ride takes about 20 minutes. The closet stop to The Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney is Wynyard Station. The hotel is located at the intersection of Pitt Street and O'Connell Street, only a few blocks from Wynyard Station.

The hotel is situated in an ideal location; it's nested between Sydney Harbor (about a 5-10 minute walk) and Martin Place (2 minute walk). We found it to be easy to walk almost anywhere from the Radisson Blu. Town Hall is about a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel, and I highly recommend you take the Free Sydney Walking Tour (more on that will be covered in our trip report) during your visit.

The Room

The entire hotel is is very modern, updated, and newly-renovated. We were given an upgraded corner room (room 430) with two double beds. The room had a lot of natural sunlight and sound-proof windows to block outside traffic noise (not that there is much anyway). The corner room was extremely spacious and open, featuring a flat screen TV, a work desk, sitting area, and modern decor.

The Bathroom

The bathroom was roomy, clean, and fantastic with a standing shower (excellent water pressure) and a separate large bath tub. There is also an optional heat light that was a nice touch. The amenities were by Peter Morrissey and included bar soaps, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, toothbrush kits, and a vanity kit.

Other Notes

As Club Carlson Gold Elites, we were not given access to the executive lounge or free breakfast (even after asking); however, we did get upgraded to a corner room (without asking).
To upgrade to an executive room with lounge access, they were asking for AUD 110 per night. Breakfast is offered at AUD 35 per person. There are plenty of places for quick eats right outside, and there are lots of 7-11 type convenience stores within a block away.
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay in one of Sydney's top hotels.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are nice!
