A great location, nice and quiet location yet close to everything. Amazing views from hotel swimming pool. Kids absolutely loved the pool.!! We stayed there during the Blackmore's running festival and their were several vantage points from the pool area to watch the runners. Great. Will stay their again.

Spacious apartment, great view from Harbour View rooms. Service very friendly -- were good about having our room ready early. Great location, just up from Circular Quay and not far from shopping and museums. Kitchen pretty well fully stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, etc. Dishwasher, laundry all in good working order. Decent bathroom with shower & tub. Compared to the Shangri-La and Four Seasons, you get the same views, and a more spacious room for the price, though you also get less glitz (no flashy restaurants / bars, etc.). It worked for what we needed.

There were a few drawbacks:
1. Cigarettes. Despite being a non-smoking room, our room reeked of stale cigarette smoke when we entered. There were cigarette butts thrown on the balcony, so maybe the person was smoking outside, though the smoke managed to permeate both rooms. It took two days of airing out and cooking sausage for breakfast before the room didn't smell of smoke.

2. The internet. When you're paying $350 a night for a room, being asked to pay another $50 for three days of wifi access (and limited amount of data) is crazy. I gather this is an Australian thing, but in North America the top-tier hotels have free wifi, and it's not unusual where I've stayed in Europe, as well, so those were my expectations. Then, on top of that, once you've connected 3 devices, you're done -- you can't even pay another $50 for another passcode, because once you enter your room number and name, it tells you that you already have a passcode. This is ignorant in the age of iPhones and iPads -- between us we had two iPhones, two iPads, a work BlackBerry and a laptop, and I suspect that's not terribly uncommon these days. At a hotel of this caliber, I expect to be able to access the internet from whatever device makes sense at that time. And THEN you discover that, having paid for wifi access, it crawls -- takes 3 minutes to download a page. (I gather, from hotel management's response to my customer service survey, they've upped it to 4 devices now.)

3. The trains. The trains run onto the Harbour Bridge just below the hotel, and apparently they have to honk before they enter the bridge. You will hear this all night. I suspect this is also an issue at the Four Seasons and the Shangri-La next door (though perhaps they have better soundproofing).

4. Overall facilities condition. One of the bolts was off the glass shade on the desk lamp, so that side of the shade sagged. The sofa appears to be broken; it was hard to pull out as one side seemed off balance or off a hinge, and once we had it pulled out, it was impossible to put back in. Upstairs at the pool, the views were fantastic, but the jacuzzi was maybe 20C and pumping cold water in from the bottom, and the pool was quite chilly.

So, don't expect true luxury. But if you're looking for a spacious suite with nice views, and don't mind cigarette smoke or slow, expensive, limited wifi, this is likely a good option for you.

Thank you 'OffTheBeatenPath' for your feedback and for taking the time to share your experience. Since your stay in October 2013, a number of areas throughout the property has been revitalised including complimentary internet in the lobby, complimentary internet for all Le Club members with a Silver status or higher, a much stricter no-smoking policy and also a number of soft-refurbishment touches. We would love to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Quay West Suites to restore your faith in our property.

Kind regards,

Joleen Hurst

We stayed here with several other members of the family and thought it was fine.

Rooms were pretty standard, but nice, if you get a harbour vote they're great, if you look into another wall, bit less exciting.

Great spot though if you're in Sydney and want to be able to do a bit of stuff catering. Great location in the Rocks but also the city and ferries.

Quay West Suites is an excellent hotel with friendly and helpful workers! The room was huge with a good view and free internet, and was within walking distance to the harbour. I had no complaints at all.

Quay West Suites is directly adjacent to the harbour end of the central city, about three blocks from the Circular Quay wharf and within walking distance of the Rocks - which is a bit overrated - but also most central city parks, shops, museums etc. Views out over the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and harbour generally are outstanding. Rates were high, but not especially so by Sydney standards: certainly worth the pretty small margin over a lot of the local competition for bigger rooms, better location and so forth.

Our two bedroom apartment was spacious, with good fittings/facilities - if worn here and there - and good quality bedding; the pool - on the 24th floor, with a view and and external balcony - was very welcome; and staff were helpful and attentive, including a late checkout. Breakfast - included in our booking rate - was a good buffet with lots of alternatives although, surprisingly, in an area of the hotel restaurant with no view.

Quay West Suites was our first stop after arriving in Australia from the UK. I had requested to drop off our luggage on arrival as the UK flights arrive around 0600hrs and the usual check-in time is 1400hrs
We went up to the pool area to freshen up and our luggage was kept safely by reception. Not long after sitting by the poolside (on the 23rd floor) admiring the fabulous views of the Harbour Bridge & Opera House the concierge came up to let us know he had juggled rooms around and we could check in early. This was great news, and we gladly settled into our extremely comfortable 2 bedroom apartment on the 15th floor again with stunning vistas of the Harbour area at about 10:00am.

The apartment was spacious, clean and tidy with small kitchen area. A separate utility area housed a washing machine & tumble dryer should you need them.
The beds were extremely comfortable, with good sized bathrooms. The lounge area was relatively comfortable and the only criticism would be to have more comfortable chairs as well as the sofa.

We did use the room service one evening unfortunately we did wait a long time for the food to arrive (1 hour) and had to ring and check if the order had been received, The portions when the food arrived were huge, particularly the Panini.
All in all a great location for the city, very central for all tourist areas. You couldn't ask for a better view!
I have not included any other photo's as the ones already posted do it justice.

Room Tip: Request harbour view suite from 15th floor upwards
