Stayed here on a trip of a lifetime and thought generally it was a very good hotel.
Loacted about a 10 min walk from Darling Harbour and far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be able to get a good nights sleep!
We only paid 15 pound each a ight which was the same price as some of the hostels!
To get to the main parts of Sydney eg the Opera House etc you need to gt on a boat but they leave reguarly rom the Darling Harbour and only takes about 15 mins on the boat.
Fairly quiet hotel although most nights the asian couple in the room next door kept us awake with their nocturnal love making!
No kitchen facilites in room or bar baut snacks and alcoho available from vending macines in the lobby!
Reception keep your passports as a deposit which initially worried me but really was not a problem.
Train station was only a few mins walk away with easy access to all locations including the blue mountains which really is an essential trip.
Breakfast not included but plently of places locally to eat out. Most restaurants seemed to be chinese!
I would stay here again next time I visit Sydney and there is so much to do and see. We stayed for 1 week but it was not nearly long enough!

This was our first time at metro Hotel.
We found the reception staff helpful and although the room was quite small it was very clean, the bathroom was nice and had good ameneties..such as hand wash, shower gel and shampoo, iron and ironing board, kettle, hairdryer etc.
After having stayed at some very noisy hotels we found this hotel to be very quiet...and easy walk to darling harbour, oxford street etc and walkable to circular quay or close to Town Hall train station if you dont want to walk.
We will stay again and there are usually good rates, we paid $130 a night and that was mardi gras weekend.

Had a couple of nights here in mid February as part of a large group. The room I shared was very small and there was no place to put our suitcases. The staff were very vague and some spoke poor English. This hotel is in Chinatown and it is geared towards the Chinese/Japanese, all the reception staff were of far east descent and most of our group felt as if we were an afterthought. The breakfast was very ordinary and I complained about the quality to the duty manager, needless to say it did not improve. Shame really because the hotel enjoys a great location, we will not return unless I hear of an improvement.

I stayed at the Metro Hotel by myself, as a sole traveller under 25. My room was clean and comfortable and I was able to check in when I arrived in Sydney. The room had enough facilities to be able to enjoy my nights in. I found the reception staff to be cheerful, friendly and helpful, always answering questions and helping me out when I couldn't figure out how to use the wireless internet! The restaurnat staff were also very friendly, inviting me in to sit in the restaurant because I would be more comfortable using my laptop in there. Overall, this was probably my best ever hotel experience and I happily refer people to the Metro on Pitt whenever they tell me they'll be staying in Sydney.
