Stayed here for 2 nights during a recent trip to Australia. I used some of my long accumulating Hyatt points as a Hyatt Diamond. Magnificent stay at one of the best hotels I have ever had the pleasure to stay at. I wished I had not wasted 2 days staying at the IC earlier in the week and had just spent 4 at PH. Check in was super friendly and pleasant. One of the best parts about Hyatt is that they grant all status related benefits and perks on any stay, even award stays, so I did not have to feel like a second class citizen since I paid with points, not cash. When I was checking in, I made a joke to the front desk clerk that I was disappointed that I would not get to enjoy their delicious breakfast on my second morning, since we had to leave VERY early (3am) for a flight to Cairns. The gentleman immediately told me that we could order room service, have it delivered early when we wanted it and they would treat it as my Diamond breakfast amenity, which is normally in the restaurant. Top notch service without even being asked.
I had requested a specific room that I had been told was a great view, which turned out to not be available when we checked in, because someone else had it. However, they already had it noted in the system when I checked in, and told me that they could not give me that room, but instead gave me the same room, just 2 floors lower. Same view, just a little lower, and it was SPECTACULAR.
We went to the room, and found it to be exceptional. We were upgraded to a Deluxe Opera View room, which is always based on availability of course, but we were fortunate. The view was beyond stunning...I mean I really cannot say it enough. The view of the bay and the opera house was magnificent. I could have sat there all day and enjoyed it. The room was large and spacious and very nicely appointed, with a superbly comfortable bed. The bathroom was huge and had a tub where you could look out over the bay at the opera house while you soaked if you wanted. The shower was excellent and the room itself was clean and nicely appointed.
We ordered breakfast for 2am delivery on the 2nd night when we had to be out early to catch the flight. I had ordered two breakfasts and my wife had asked for a hard boiled egg as well. They brought the 2 meals as well as a 3rd meal consisting of eggs, rather than just 1 simple hard boiled egg, and comped the entire thing, rather than be sticklers to the "rules" and only allow 2 "breakfasts". The food was excellent. We enjoyed the breakfast in the restaurant the first morning, which consisted of a good size menu of excellent choices in addition to the moderate sized buffet, which was included for Diamonds. A top notch breakfast.
When we wanted to go out for dinner the first night, we asked the concierge to recommend a good steakhouse serving rustic, simple, locally sourced meat and he gave us a perfect recommendation. Everyone in the hotel genuinely seemed to go out of their way to help you with every request and honestly seemed like they cared if you were pleased with the outcomes. When we returned from dinner a few hours later, the concierge saw us and stopped to ask how we enjoyed the dinner and chatted it about it. Very genuine and pleasant.
Overall, the hotel had nothing negative. The location is excellent, the property itself is superb, the treatment and amenities are second to none. A superb use of points, and honestly, even to pay for. One of the best hotels I have ever had the pleasure to stay at, and I genuinely was disappointed I did not get more time to stay there, which is saying something, since the hotel is not generally the point of the trip.
