“One of the best view in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

The location takes your breath away, as you wake up in The Harbor and overlooking Opera House. The facility, after renovation is what you can expect from a Park Hyatt, service is outstanding. A "must stay" place when I am in town.

As Sydneysiders we have dined and had drinks at this stunningly located hotel before, but never stayed. Used Gold Passport points to stay for 2 nights over Christmas. Having had a facelift recently the hotel is incredibly stylish and has great attention to detail in the rooms. All the staff we dealt with were attentive, courteous and very professional. Clearly a great hotel of the world!
Our only disappointment is that our room (127) was directly above the harbourside entrance to the hotel and an area where people stood outside to smoke - the hotel management have put an ashtray on the wall so people are obviously allowed to stand there to smoke! When they did, their smoke wafted directly into our room whenever we had the door open or were sitting on the balcony. Very unpleasant! A great pity as it detracted from what is a great hotel!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms directly above the harbourside entrance due to noise and smoke!

We stayed a week at Park Hyatt and the trip was too short. It was everything that we read about and more.

Firstly, the hotel's waterfront location was unbeatable as it was located beside the harbor bridge and guests could enjoy a fab view of the Opera House. It was within walking distance to key attractions (go for the Harbour bridge climb or hop onto one of the ferries/water taxis nearby or stroll towards the opera house within 10-15 mins).

Easy access to eateries nearby: We were able to stroll to the Rocks for breakfast and explore the weekend market easily. Lots of eateries nearby (for example, the much talked about The Quay was 5 mins stroll away).

Next, I was impressed by the patience and efficiency of the concierge team during our entire stay there - special mention to Christian Eder and Charles. Prior to our trip, they not only sent over a detailed concierge guide (40 pages) but were very helpful/meticulous with restaurant recommendations and bookings as I had lots of questions (from the tourist attractions to the dining options).

Check-in and check out were very smooth sailing, with the professional service staff being very accommodating with our requests. We were jet lagged and quite exhausted, so we were very appreciative of the early check-in and late check-out.

Overall, there was a consistent and high service quality that we have encountered during our stay from the concierge, registration desk to the bell boys, room service and the bar staff.

Finally, the decor of the hotel and the room itself. Overall decor was modern and exuded a cosy air. The room was a decent size with a good view. Appreciated the clean and brightly lit bathroom, complete with a bath tub, separate stall for rain shower as well as his/her sink.

With the limited number of rooms in this hotel, (compared to the Shangri-la, Intercontinental), it felt almost like a secret hideaway with the best views in Sydney.

If we ever visit Sydney, would definitely go back there again.

This is a seriously impressive hotel in every possible way. The rooms are expensive, but the product is as good as it gets. There is arguably no better location in the world; the rooms are modern, stylish and sizeable. The service is impeccable. All in all, if you are going to pay $900 for a hotel, I can only justify it at the Park Hyatt Sydney. I agree re the need to include Wifi in the room rate.

We stayed at the Park Hyatt Sydney twice on our our three week honeymoon throughout Australia, Fiji and New Zealand. It was the perfect hotel to bookend our trip.
The rooms are modern, large and comfortable. The private balcony overlooking the Sydney Harbor was the perfect spot to have drinks in the evening and tea in the morning. And although your close to the harbor, the rooms are extremely quiet (and dark at night with blackout shades). The beds are large and comfortable and the bathrooms have big tubs, spacious showers and nice products.
We had breakfast at the hotel each morning, and although it's not cheap, the buffet was expansive and the a la carte dishes were well made.
Service was top-notch, and our only issue was 1) the fire alarm going off twice on our first trip and 2) having to change rooms on our second stop due to air conditioning issues. But these are both problems any hotel could have, and they were handled swiftly and with grace so I don't fault the Park Hyatt a bit.
Would definitely love to stay here again on our next trip.

My only two complaints: 1) The hot tub was luke warm at best. 2) Do you really have to charge for wifi? It seems like such a nickel and dime thing to do in such a luxurious, expensive spot.

Room Tip: Spring for the Opera house view. So beautiful at night.

Excellent staff, spacious & beautiful rooms. Dinner in the dining room with staff who have the best product knowledge of wine & food dishes, most impressed. And to top it off while enjoying fhis a huge cruise liner sailed out of Sydney Harbour right before our eyes at 8pm which was magic to watch.

Room Tip: I had side opera house view & cruise liner berth view

This is without doubt one of the great hotels of the world. Its position nestling under the famous Harbour Bridge and looking over the water to the Opera House is quite simply sensational. And the hotel is beautifully appointed with large comfortable rooms and exceptional staff all very keen to please. I stayed for a week and will certainly be coming back there when I next visit Sydney. The restaurant worked well in my experience. The choice was wide and the quality good. Obviously it's not cheap which is why I enter my only slight observation which is that it's amazing they solemnly charge you a whack for wifi. Why does that niggle? It probably shouldn't but somehow it jars. It's more silly marketing than money grabbing. If you're looking for an economy stay this isn't for you. But someone might just tell them that when you're paying $800 a night for the room the least you expect is to have the wifi thrown in. Ok, having got that stupid irritation off my obviously too sensitive chest I need to just confirm that the Park Hyatt is the last word in luxury and you won't find better anywhere in the world.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Opera House
