“Handy location but awful accommodation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

Positives:
1. Location is pretty good, easy walking distance to Darling Harbour.
2. Spacious apartment, plenty of storage space.
3. Bed was comfortable.
4. Linen and towels were fresh and clean (although you don't get any fresh ones unless you ask for them).

Negatives:
1. It STUNK. We were on the fourth floor and the entire floor had a dreadful odour, particularly inside the room. The air conditioning was on when we arrived and thinking that may have been the source of the smell, we turned it off and opened every window. It didn't help.
2. The apartment had no balcony and was facing the very busy road and office buildings with their bright lights streaming through the windows all night. The room was filthy, particularly the walls and windows, covered in grime. I'm assuming it had accumulated from the busy roads surrounding (and over the top of) the motel.
3. The bathroom. There was a huge step to get into or out of the bath (shower combo) - and the bath itself was very slippery (we slipped over 3 times, thankfully didn't hurt ourselves). The worst part however was the ceiling height. My husband is 6'2" in height and while I consider him to be really tall he isn't really in comparison to most men. He hit his head on the ceiling every time he had a shower - the ceiling is ridiculously low once you've stepped into the bath. Having to shower hunched over is absurd.
Whilst it was reasonably cheap it was far too nasty. Won't be going back there again.

the location was ok ,the room size fine but the rooms need a refurb and clean,we stayed 6 nights no clean towels, had to ask for toilet paper, soap ect. never read anywhere the rooms wern't cleaned unless over 7 night stay.Leave dishes unwashed they will charge you ,leave any rubbish a $ 25 fee charged ,didn't see that untill we sat down in the room. Balcony was nice but too noisy to leave open and it was dirty. The staff are friendly and helpfull . I dont think we will stay again.

We stayed there over 3 days during the New Year celebrations, and were very glad we chose this place for it's location. We were able to walk-in to watch the fireworks, with a number of great locations to choose from, my husband was in a wheelchair (broken leg) so we were restricted as to vantage points but I was able to wheel him in along Hickson road right up to the first pier near the bridge. On our return trip we were back in our hotel room within 20 minutes, amazing not having to drive or catch public transport, which was in a dead-lock for quite a few hours as we looked out of our window. This hotel was very convenient but don't expect a beautiful room, it needs a good paint job and most definitely a good clean of the sofabed (or new replacement) and chairs. The bedroom was basic but clean with lots of storage space - good for longer stays. The apartment also has a small kitchenette (sink, fridge, hotplate and microwave) and a small balcony. We were satisfied but not thrilled, but still a great location for the fireworks, Darling Harbour and the Rocks.

Room Tip: We had room 308

Stayed for four night great value and location will stay again. The only negative was I had to ask for clean towels otherwise everything was great.Easy access to King St Wharf, Circular Quay and City Centre. Even though the western distributor is above and the buildings of Barangaroo is across the road the room is very peaceful and quite.

I had an early AM appointment with my Neurosurgeon in George Street and seeing that my partner and I live 59.7klm and an alleged 55 minutes from Camden to Sydney we decided to book an apartment for one night so we did not have to do the mad dash (sorry, "crawl") into the City!

We forget what was happening in Sydney the day we booked Napoleon on Kent, but most major hotels were full or charging like a wounded bull for a standard motel style room and we only ever stay in apartments with separate rooms (I snore teehee)!

Anyway, we found this little motel, The Napoleon on Kent that advised us they did have an apartment available which we booked. On the day, my partner and I got there a little early prior to check-in but were told our room available. The young lady that checked us in was extremely friendly and professional. Our parking was authenticated and we left our luggage with reception and parked our vehicle in the “shared” garage!

The reception area was quite modern, however, when we got into our apartment this generalisation stopped! Not complaining, the room was spacious, with reasonably “fresh” furnishings which really do just need to be spruced up a little!

The overall cleanliness of the apartment could not be faulted, the bathroom passed my acute inspection, and our balcony was clean! Carpets we were told had just been cleaned and smelt very fresh.

Overall; We were both quite happy with the room, the staff were professional, helpful and friendly. The price was terrific, awesome location, and we had a glimpse of Darling Harbour which we did not expect! Yes we would stay there again if we had to!!!

We have stayed here twice now. Both in a studio & 1 bdrm apartment. We have had rooms both at the front under the freeway & looking back toward the pub. Very quiet considering the location. Walking distance to Darling Harbour, Circular Quay for the Opera House, The Rocks & Wynyard Station to get you everywhere else. They also have Coles for your self contained kitchen essentials. The pub behind Napoleon is fantastic for meals. Would highly recommend.

Stayed here with two kids. Friendly, helpful staff, clean rooms with everything we needed for our two night stay. Great location as you can walk to Circular Quay, Pitt St Mall, etc, even with a four year old.
We stayed on level 1, facing Darling Harbour and it was nice and quiet at night.
