“Excellent value for Sydney”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

My wife and I and our two adult children shared a one bedroom apartment and found it excellent value for Sydney. The location is good, with Coles supermarket only 5 minutes away at Wynyard and with Darling Harbour and Circular Quay both in walking distance. So is The Cut, an outstanding restaurant in Argyle Street, which we have been to on three different visits to Sydney.
Our third floor apartment was roomy and quiet and clean. There is no ducted airconditioning, but the room airconditioner in the living area was adequate for both rooms, even though it was Summer. There was only one small towel rail and nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom, but the apartment was otherwise well equipped.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We did not have contact with any other staff, because rooms are serviced only weekly and we did not need any maintenance work done.

Room Tip: Avoid an apartment on a lower floor facing Kent Street

We had a one bedroom apartment in this block in December 2012, booked for the same price as a studio appartment. The staff were friendly and non-intrusive: we had a small quiet drinks party on the Friday night and after telling the staff about it they directed the guests to our apartment.

The apartment was basically clean but some of the furniture needed a deep clean (the dining room chairs were stained) and the paint needed freshening, but for €109 a night it was good value in a great location. The rooms were also a bit dim - maybe higher wattage light bulbs are needed to cope with the lack of any sort of direct sunshine.

The only reservation I would have about recommending this place unreservedly is the cost of wi-fi: $16 a day seems like a lot of money when many cheaper hotels and motels offer free wifi. If you're staying during the week one of the local cafés has unsecured free wi-fi you can access (weak signal, so it's slow but it works)

We recently stayed at Napoleon on Kent for three nights and although under the freeway above, it was quiet with double glazed doors. Liked the fact the kitchen was equipped with everything required and only a 5 minute walk to Wynyard Station where there is a supermarket.
This is a serviced apartment and accordingly don't expect room service or new linen and towels every day and you will be required to simply put any rubbish in the area provided on each floor.
The accommodation is roomy and true to the images presented on line. From booking to check out, everything went smoothly.

Room Tip: Go for level 3 or 4 (level one appeared too low).

I stayed here twice within a month. First, I had 1 bedroom for 3 adults and 1 toddler. The room was on the first floor, which is actually down stairs from the lobby. We had room facing opposite Kent st. so it wasn't as busy of people walking. The room was spacious, had a kitchenette, small dining table, so it was pretty good if we brought food back or when cooking on our own.
On my second stay, I took a studio room. Since they saw me with a toddler, they provided me a the largest studio room they have. It was nice, similar like 1 bedroom amenities. The difference was 1 bedroom had a bathtub bathroom where studio was a shower only.
The cleaning service provided during your stay is only given if you stay at least 7 nights. And I wasn't exactly comfortable with my room's view towards Kent St. since it's a busy street for people walking in front of our balcony, which made me reluctant to open the curtains.

The staff was really nice and helpful. Since I went to Melbourne between the stays, I asked them if I could store my luggage there and they happily accommodate it. In addition, during my final check-out I forgot that I put my son's food in the fridge. I called the hotel and the receptionist immediately notified the cleaning service and kept it for my brother to collect it.

It was a pleasure staying there. Keep up the good work!

Room Tip: ask the one that does not face to kent street.

Four of us stayed in the one bedroom apartment. Friendly greeting and helped us organise transport back to the airport that was much cheaper than a taxi and he knew where he was going. We asked for an extra single bed and they happily accommodated us. Could have done with more towel rails and more shampoo/conditioner. Was a good location to get to Darling Harbour or Circular Quay, we would walk there. If you dislike a steep climb, best to use a taxi as the hotel is in a "dip". Their hotel book would have been more useful with places to eat around the hotel. Couldn't hear much traffic noise considering the location. Overall was a great four nights and would stay again next time I'm in Sydney for cheap accommodation.

We stayed at this apartment yet again and still love the convenience of public transport. At Wynard station, there is a Coles supermarket therefore makes it good for your shopping while there. We were there for 4 nights this time. Staff friendly.

Room Tip: We had 306 up on 3 floor. Was a good set out but the 3 different occasions, we have stayed here have...

We were prepared for a less than stellar hotel as we'd paid a budget rate. So we expected few amenities, services and facilities. We didn't expect to be in a room under the Freeway (but those are the breaks) and we were on a low floor too. Also not the best but understandable - especially for the rate we paid.

But - it was dirty. They've apparently cut back on cleaning. Dirty surface and stains on the chairs. And they're also not the best at maintenance and fittings. The towel rail broke off and the phone fell off the wall. And understandably so - seems the only tool the builder had was a hammer so there was a big hole in the wall for the phone cable and another for heat pump.

Budget would have been ok. But dirty and bits breaking - not ok.

Room Tip: If you're going to stay here make it a high floor and get to pre-inspect your room for cleanline...
