“Great location for Darling Harbour and shopping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

My son and I stayed in an Executive apartment for three nights, visiting Sydney for post-Christmas shopping and also sightseeing.
This hotel is in a great location for both - right beside Darling Harbour and within a few minutes walk of the main CBD shops.
The apartment we stayed in was clearly showing its age and it really could do with being refurbished. However, it was clean and everything worked as it should.
The kitchen was full size, with a stove (including oven and separate griller), a full size fridge, microwave etc and properly equipped with cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. This of course is a real bonus when you're staying for multiple nights and you don't want to eat out for every meal. There was also coffee, sugar and milk - all the usual motel style sachets of course, but in really generous amounts.
In the lounge area - the fold-out sofa bed was of the better quality, and my son found it to be quite comfortable. There was a dining table large enough for four people to use. There was also a good quality TV set and access to a good range of Foxtel channels.
Upstairs the large bathroom included a shower over the bath, plus a washing machine and dryer. Unusually, there was a quite large vanity area for toiletries etc and a fairly good set of lights over the mirror.
I wouldn't stay in this room if I had small children because of the internal mezzanine floor - it has railings of course but wouldn't be considered child-proof. It also wouldn't be suitable for anyone who has difficulty with stairs as the stairs up to the bathroom and bedroom are quite steep.
We only had minimal problems with noise - the first two nights we didn't notice anything at all, on the last night (a Friday) it seemed a pub nearby had some really loud music on for a few hours. We didn't find it to be too disturbing but other people might.
Both the check-in and check-out processes were handled really quickly and efficiently.
In summary - great location and good value for money. I'd certainly consider staying here again.

Room Tip: Room 701 had nice views over Darling Harbour

Thank you for your extensive review.
It is muchly appreciated the time you have taken to detail the apartment.
With regards to the children staying in the Darling Harbour property, we strongly suggest in all our websites and advertising that guests stay at our Metro Apartments On King St, as they are a single level apartment across the road from the Darling Harbour Apartments, so still in the same great location but the Apartments are on one level.
Again thank you for staying with us and hope to see you again shortly.

We had not stayed here for several years but it was great to come back and find the standard similar to what we first experienced about 15 years ago. Although our room was not ready when we arrived aboyt 9am the receptionist took our mobile number and said they would phone to let us know when it was avilable before 1pm. We duly got a call about noon. We were fortuabte to have a room on the 7th (top) floor with a lovely view over Darling Harbour. We remembered from last visit that the area can be quite noisy with a pub across the road open late on weekends but with the doors onto the balcony closed the traffic noise was OK and the pre-Christmas celebrations not too bad across the road. The cathedral windows and loft bedroom are a stunning feature of this apartment complex. We also appreciated having a washer and dryer although the railings of the loft are an excellent place to hang washing to dry and we didn't use the dryer. Really appreciated the free laundry powder too! We did have the air conditioner on the whole time we were there as these units face west and can get very warm in summer. The air conditoner did a great job as did keeping the blinds shut when the sun was at full force. One little surpise were the 3 cockroaches that visited during our stay-after the first one we told receptionabout it and they provided us with a can of insect spray that was very effective on the next two and a profuse apology and a promise that the apartment would be checked and sprayed when we left. .Free use of the computer and internet at reception further added to our plesant stay. The only downside of this property would be the steep stairs you need to use to get to the foyer-with a heavy bag in tow this can be quite demanding however given the way the property is built it would be diffiuclt to fix this..Excellent location for Darling harbour restaurants/bars/attractions and close to two train stations plus supermarket.

Room Tip: All rooms will get a view but the ones above 4th floor are probably the best as they clear lower bui...

This little block of serviced apartments is in a great central location. Just a 5 minute walk to darling harbour- great for anyone who is planning on having a few drinks on a harbour cruise!
With a clean kitchenette, fold out sofa bed in the lounge room, balcony and upstairs sleeping quarter with en-suite its great for a couple or a few friends out for a night in the city.

Just spent 3 nights at the Metro Apartments on Sussex St with my family. The staff were very helpful and friendly, room quality was fantastic and all within an easy walk to Darling Harbour. I only rated the sleep quality as average because we are from the country and not used to so much traffic. 10/10

Stayed one night after finishing a P&O cruise. An easy walk from Circular Quay even with luggage or you can catch the free George St bus to King St, then walk down to Sussex St.
Apartments are in a great location to enjoy the city, the Harbour, Darling Harbour , Chinatown etc.
The apartment was very clean and fresh despite being a bit old.
Bed was very comfortable and plenty of linen, towels provided.
Access to the apartment is via stairs from the street but the staff assisted with luggage.

Staff were all excellent, giving plenty of advice for transport , taxis, ferries etc. Kyle couldn't do enough for us.

Room Tip: Room 704 has excellent views over Darling Harbour.

The location was great, less than a five minute walk to the ferries or all the interesting things to do and see at Darling Harbour. The down side of that was that we were there on a weekend and during the Melbourne Cup so there was a lot of late night street noise especially if the window was open.

The furnishings and decor is tired and the kitchen needs to be entirely redone. To balance that the suite was clean and the bed was comfortable.

The cleaning staff often forgot to leave either hand towels, face clothes and the kitchen had no pot holders and none arrived after I requested them.

Friendly and helpful front desk staff. A lot of steps to climb going into the hotel and we were helped with our luggage. They also hailed an airport taxi for us as there is no parking to call a taxi.

I found the apartment clean but a bit tired and in need of an update. The air con in the bedroom was mounted just above the skirting board and blew straight at the side of the bed - the moving part was broken. We were on the first floor and the noise was a real problem, from early morning until late at night, and the windows were not double glazed. This is a budget apartment but with hindsight I would pay a little more for something better. The position, however, was excellent.

Thank you for mentioning the great location.
With our apartments we have two types of accommodation.
Standard Apartment which is from floor 1 to 3.
Executive Apartment which is from floor 4 to 7.
The Executive apartments cost a little more.

Hope that next time you visit you will be able to experience the Executive Apartments but they sell very quickly. Hope to see you soon.
