“Another Solid Experience with the IC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014

Lovely stay all around! Great helpful staff - Jenny who checked us in was really refreshing after a long flight in; the concierge desk was very helpful with the train scheduling for our day trip to Katoomba.

Lobby is rather underwhelming, but more importantly, the rooms were comfortable and bathrooms well lit & clean. Food at the Cortile (the lobby lounge) was excellent, if a bit slow; love the vibe of the refurbished old Treasury Building. Despite being @ Circular Quay, don't expect much of a view though.

Wifi connection in the room was a bit finicky -- we had to call down to arrange for several different log-in names before we were able to log in successfully. Upon checkout, we were charged for multiple wifi plans, but these were quicly reversed once pointed out.

Usually I like Intercontinental Hotels. This one is a great one too. Service, restaurant, rooms, food are great. I found the breakfast area to be little cramped. People at the concierge are the best. Extremely helpful. View from the room was great. Clear view of the harbour side, one can sit there day long! But the best part is the location. Circular Quay is just 200mtrs walk and Opera house is around the same. One can take Ferry from Circular Quay and go to places and its quite cheap. I used to go to the Darling Harbour and Manly beach by the ferry instead of taking a taxi or a train. I would recommend that.

This was my second stay at the Intercontinental in Sydney.

The service at this location is outstanding. Zafar at the concierge desk is the nicest, most helpful hotel employee I have ever dealt with. He is honest about restaurants and suggestions and will go out of his way to help make your stay perfect.

The rooms at this hotel are spacious but have not been renovated recently. The bathrooms do the job, but are not on par with other hotels of this level.

Some of the rooms in this hotel have absolutely amazing views of Sydney Harbor and the Botanical Gardens. The proximity to both locations is fantastic. It is close to easy transportation all over the city.

We were in Sydney from the United States for 3 days in January, 2014. Our stay here could not have been better. As others have said, the location is excellent, the rooms are excellent, the staff is excellent. And the wifi isn't so hot, but that is not what we were in Sydney to do!!. The Meat and Wine Company in the hotel is also a pretty good meal value, nice dinner speaking. You will enjoy a stay here for certain.

Room Tip: Harbor views would likely be best, although our view from floor 30 was very good. See pic.

Club Lounge is absolutely stunning. Good food, exceptional customer service, and more importantly... The BEST view in Sydney of the harbor, bridge, and Opera House. If you have the extra money to spend, the access to the rooftop lounge is well worth it!

Room Tip: I've stayed in nicer rooms in Sydney, but you select the Intercontinental for the access to the...

2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

I have stayed in the Sydney Intercontinental hotel approx 15 nights for business in the last 24 months. My last visit was Sunday 19th Jan 2014. The hotel is in close proximity to the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Central Business District. Circular Quay Railway Station and Circular Quay are a close walk away. It a distance to walk to Wynyard Station and the main city shopping areas. The hotel is full of history as it is a refurbished sandstone building from years gone by. The rooms a fairly spacious, but bath still feels old and worn. They have a mediocre on-site gym. In short, the hotel falls well short of being 5 star. There are plenty of other alternatives in better locations in Sydney.

For business users, my greatest frustrating was the wifi access did not allow me to VPN to my company's network. I have stayed many hotels and not faced the problem elsewhere. I have reported the issue to the hotel many times, but there has been no improvement. I will choose an alternative hotel on my next visit.

We stayed here the other night before heading off on our driving holiday.. It's ideally located down near the harbour so it's only a short walk down to the ferries and opera house. The room itself was on the 16th floor. Had a very comfortable bed and a big room. We were located near the lift so it was a bit noisier than last time with the noise of the lift so would suggest asking for a room away from the lift. Other than that another lovely stay
