“Flawless and with charm.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

I cannot fault anything about this hotel.
The staff impeccable, facilities and location are amazing with the rooms offering a charm that no other hotel in Sydney offers!
The upgrade to a suite and the Club are well worth it!
This hotel is where I proposed to my now wife with our most recent stay celebrating our first wedding anniversary!
The staff (especially Billy) went above and beyond in celebrating with us and it is something my wife and I will remember for a long time!
If you are looking for a hotel that will impress your partner, Intercontinental Sydney is a stand out!

I decided to book this hotel for our Sydney trip as I read good reviews from Trip Advisor. It was for my husband's 35th birthday so I made a note during the booking about this. My husband arrived in Sydney earlier so he checked in first. Upon arrival we received a free upgrade to the 23rd floor Harbour view (amazing view from the room) and the front desk staff was so lovely to congratulate him on his birthday. When he came in to the room, he received complimentary truffles and a bottle of red wine. I arrived a few hours after him and sneakily ordered a small birthday cake to be delivered to the room. When it arrives in the room, not only that they decorated the slice of cake beautifully, they also gave us a complimentary bottle of sparkling which was wonderful!

The location of this hotel can’t be more convenient, it was a stroll away to the Opera House with lovely restaurants along the harbour. We had dinner downstairs on the first night at the Meat & Wine Co which was great. I recommend going to Searock Bar for an afternoon beer with their yummy chips overlooking the boats if it is a sunny day, and then walk to the Opera House, the view was just stunning with the bridge in the background!

In overall, this hotel is amazing, with the highlight of the consistently high standard service and location of being top notch. The only negative aspect was that the windows are not double glazed and I am a light sleeper, so I could hear the noises from outside.

Stayed 3 nights in a king room and loved it. The rooms were comfortable and although we didn't spend much time at the hotel due to sightseeing, we loved how close it was to the sights and cafes etc. We had a Sydney harbour bridge climb early in the morning so we were able to just walk there with no dramas. The gym facilities were also excellent and we were given the opportunity to go up to the VIP top floor and it was an amazing view of the harbour at night! Would stay there again!

Everything you would expect from an InterContinental and in a great location, it is an easy walk to the ferry terminal, opera house, the rocks, and the rest of CBD. Very close to a great place to run in the botanical gardens. The rooms are reasonable size; several of the rooms look in to either the botanical gardens or the harbour. Always my favourite place to stay in Sydney.

We only stayed for a night to see friends. We did however love the club room facilities as always.
We will be back very soon and for a longer stay. The staff are simply superb. The views from the club lounge are beautiful whether it's at night or daytime. The location is magnificent - close to all major attractions so you'll be using your camera often.

Room Tip: ALWAYS book a club room......it's well worth it.

Stayed 2 nights in a low floor city view room. The rooms/finishing are starting to look their age. Although, the room is designed well. Loved the window seat and good working size desk. The bathroom was functional with a great little window to the living area to allow you to see the TV. (Reinforces earlier comment about design!)
TV screens are now bigger in most hotels.
The front door crew were efficient and professional. Check in/out was smooth.
Room service- wow the prices! Plus a $6 delivery charge. (Should have eaten at Rockpool, it would have been cheaper!!)
They still offer an old fashioned turndown service, only if you request it. What does it mean to be a 5 star these days?

We stayed at the Intercontinental for two nights in a harbour view room on the 17th floor. The view was definitely worth it. The room was spacious with plenty of sitting areas, sofa, window seat and writing desk etc.
The hotel is a great mix of old world charm and modern interiors, the lobby was a fabulous place to chill out with a glass of wine and snack at the end of a long day on your feet. The food in the lobby was really tasty (we had tapas) and good value. We also have a wonderful breakfast in the restaurant which had a great selection of good quality food, and excellent service.
We found the staff to be very professional, and everything went to plan with no hiccups from check in to check out.
You must try the pool, if only for that perfect view!

Room Tip: Really do splash out for harbour view- worth it!
