“Delicious high tea in "The Cortile" lounge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

Nice place to visit on a wet Sunday afternoon in Sydney! Three of us went for the buffet afternoon tea which included sparkling wine on arrival, the choice of several teas and help yourself buffet. The food was delicious and included sandwiches, savoury tarts and pies, waffles, crepes, creme brulees, cheeseboard, mini pavlovas, scones with cream and jam, and a variety of sweet cakes and slices. What I ate was delicious but certainly couldn't get through all that was available to try!! My tip would be not to have any lunch before you go, so you go with an appetite which we did! A pleasant way to spend an afternoon with attentive staff.

“A very comfortable hotel in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

This hotel has a great room layout that helps make your stay feel very relaxed. The huge bed is extremely comfortable, and there is large selection of pillows on request to help you sleep well.
It is at the higher end of the market in terms of price, but as they often say "you get what you pay for".
The buffet breakfast was $38.00, with a good selection of foods to choose from. Overall the breakfast was worth the cost due to the quality of the food on offer.
The small indoor pool and the nearby gym are both adequate, but the view from the pool area across the harbour is magnificent. Worth a visit to the 31st floor just for the view.
As you would expect, the staff are friendly and attentive. The location is excellent - only a short walk to Sydney's greatest attraction, the harbour.
Public transport is close by, with buses, trains and ferries conveniently located at Circular Quay, a 5 minute walk from the front desk. Parking is a little expensive at $45 per night.

Room Tip: Ask for a high level harbour view room if they are available

“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

The Intercontinental is in a wonderful location to explore Sydney. It is just a few minutes walk to sydney harbour and its wonderful attractions like the Opera house and the bridge. It is also very close to circular Quay train station for exploring the city. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable and offer great views of the harbour or the city. The buffet breakfast is expensive but very good. Parking is expensive at $45 Aud a day if you have a car but there is a Wilson car park in Bridge st just near the hotel which only charges $12 per day. Overall an excellent place to stay.

Room Tip: Harbour views are great but cost a bit extra.

“Concierge service top notch. Great central business district location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

We stayed here part of our Sydney vacation, using a Priority Club points redemption. One can't argue with a free stay at a great hotel, excellently situated, with the kind of concierge service as I've found in each and every Intercontinental we've stayed at over the past ten years or so. However, for the other part of our stay we were at the Marriott Circular Quay on a Marriott points redemption, and being a platinum member of that program, had complimentary access to the Executive Lounge, where we saved a fortune on breakfasts and evening meals. So, my rating of the "value" of the Intercontinental as 3 dots is reflective of the lack of complimentary club access for a points redemption, as compared to the Marriott.

Unless you have lots of luggage, no need to get a taxi from the Circular Quay to the Intercontinental. Take the train from the airport to Circular Quay and it is just a 5 minute walk to the hotel.

The hotel is also catty corner, so to speak, to the Botanical Gardens. Our first day we walked to the gardens after check-in. The Opera House is just minutes away by foot too. Nice. If you're fortunate enough to stay here, whether on points or cash, you'll have a great time.

“Great location, great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

My family stayed here over Christmas and had a lovely time. We had two interconnecting rooms with a view of the Harbour Bridge. The rooms were fine - nothing amazing but clean and spacious enough. The location is perfect though. We were able to walk to so many places from the hotel.

We had booked the Christmas Eve buffet but then cancelled it because we were too jet-lagged. No problem. The concierge Zafar was really helpful. He gave us many suggestions on things to do, tips for breakfast, and booked dinners for us. He always went out of his way to be helpful.

My husband also loved the fitness center.
