“A real surprise packet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

Never done this before but was staying one night in Sydney for business, left it late to book so chanced the Wotif Mystery pack. It said it was a Hotel at The Rocks and as my work was down that way and price was good thought I would take the chance.

Turned out a very good choice. A nice little quaint boutique Hotel, in a very convenient location, good and attentive staff, well decked out rooms (if a little small but was only me so no problem I understand other rooms are larger) and very well priced.

I will be returning again next time in Sydney and booking direct with Hotel. They have promised to match any other price offerings. Part of the ACCOR Group.

If you dont need all the trimmings of a large Hotel and location suits very hard to fault.

Room Tip: My room was on basement floor near restaurant and entrance way so abit noisy. I would ask for furthe...

I strongly recommend this hotel for your next Sydney stay. This is an upmarket, fresh modern boutique hotel with well-appointed interiors and great facilities. The differentiator with this hotel, is the level of genuine attentiveness by the staff to you, the guest's, every need. After staying in so many hotels over the years, Harbour Rocks is in a class of its own, and restores the weary business traveller's faith in true customer service, clean faultless facilities, and staff who genuinely take pride in their work. Thanks for a great stay - I will be back soon!

Room Tip: Get a 'Heritage Superior Queen' room facing the Opera House - it's quieter and great vie...

My wife and I stayed here for a night to celebrate our birthdays. Upon arrival we were able to check in before the allotted check in time- always a bonus. The hotel lobby was very welcoming on a dreary winter's day. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was a great size for the two of us and included a very comfortable bed. The shower was glorious- strong water flow with a high showerhead. Overall, the hotel had a very modern feel but in a very historic setting.

We were on the ground floor and we were a bit concerned about noise but it was mostly okay just a few random revellers late in the night. We ate lunch and breakfast in Scarlet's (the restaurant in the hotel) and were very impressed. It looked to be pricey (we had a scoopon for lunch and the breakfast was included in our package) but the food and service were excellent. This hotel is a gem- we will definitely be back.

The large plain wooden doors of the Harbor Rocks Hotel automatically opened to reveal a library with comfortable couch and chairs. We were promptly checked in - and happily accepted an upgrade to a suite. Our suite was spacious, with modern decor that cleverly maintained the heritage theme yet accented the natural light from the large window. Along with the kingsized bed ( appreciated the two large pillows each) & desk the room was furnished with a big soft couch and large coffee table. A very roomy plain bathroom with a great shower over the deep bath, and how I appreciated the easy to use taps - no special skill required...
The hotel has a great position - smack bang in the Rocks area with shopping ( a world of Ugg boots) restaurants, pubs, just a good 5 minutes walk to the ferries & trains, and another 10 minutes or so on to the the Opera House.
Just two mini whinges: there is nowhere in bathroom to put a toilet bag - it requires a shelf next to the handbasin, and of the lovely Australian amenities - two of the bottles were only half full.
This is a small boutique hotel and whilst a great stay for anyone, I couldn’t think of a better introduction to Sydney or Australia. In other review I have commented that another Accor Hotel at Darling Harbor is not so welcoming and not a good introduction to our country for visitors - I hereby implore would be guests from overseas book early and stay here! Definitely recommend it for single travellers too - in fact since our first stay I cancelled my booking from another hotel to stay here again .
Getting here by train from the airport: For an adventure and as we had plenty of time and not much luggage we decided to catch the train from the airport to Circular Quay and then walk (an easy less than 10 minutes) to the Harbor Rocks Hotel). Ticket = $18 ( $11 if you have a Senior’s Card) For a a single traveller (with minimum luggage only though as there is a LOT of walking, stairs and escalators) I would recommend it - however two or more people get a cab.
