“Fantastic stay!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

I recently stayed at the Four Seasons hotel in Sydney with my husband for two nights. We were on our way home from New Zealand and had a two night stopover here. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and the service was excellent. The bed was incredibly luxurious and I had the best night's sleep here. The breakfast although a little pricey was definitely worth it for the fantastic spread. If we were there for longer we probably would have had breakfast out on other mornings as there were many places nearby which were reasonably priced in The Rocks (turn left out of the hotel).

The location of the hotel was perfectly situated next to the harbour so it was easy to walk to the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. This was also the place where the ferries went from so you can jump on a ferry to Manly Beach (half an hour boat ride away) or many of the other places nearby. You get great views of the harbour from the boat. Just behind the Opera House are the Botanical Gardens which are also perfect for a walk.

My husband used the gym in the hotel and was very happy with the facilities there. We did try and book a spa treatment but unfortunately they were fully booked for the time that we were there. I would advise booking before your arrival to avoid disappointment. The pool area was quite small and next to a main road so it wasn't really what I was expecting. However, we weren't really in Sydney to chill out by the pool when there was so much to do so it did not really matter.

There was a cool bar on the ground floor of the hotel but we didn't have time to go in for a drink...maybe next time.

I would definitely recommend the Four Seasons, Sydney and wish that we had stayed there longer.

Room Tip: View of the Harbour would be amazing

A very well located hotel and the recent restaurant and bar renovations have really done wonders.
Our room was ready on time, the staff very attentive and a late check out available. Looking forward to returning

As our first time in Australia we decided to splurge a bit a stay in the "Rocks" area, where all the hotels are pricey but the location is to die for. The Four Seasons was decent overall, but they have so much work to do if they ever wanted to be considered a Four Seasons Hotel. To not waste your time here is a recap of our four nights...
Worst Moments-
1. Staff ruined a pair of boots while shining them (with WRONG COLOR) at their overnight free shine service
2. Jacuzzi was really a hot tub (White trash above ground style) and it wasn't hot, luke warm even after we asked for it to be looked at. We gave up after second day.
3. The umbrellas given at the door for guest use were broken. Its actually funny since we have stayed at the four seasons in Whistler where the staff actually held our umbrellas for us, here in sydney it was like, oh, yeah the rain, here ago mate... no cool when youre soaking wet and going to a nice dinner and a play at the opera house. Almost laughable.

The good side however
1. Free printing and computer use for guests (which can in handy for printing out tickets and different)
2. The location is killer, specially if you plan on going to the Opera House or taking any of the ferries (Highly recommend Manly Beach)
3. The cucumber water available in the lobby in the AM

Room Tip: You have to get a view of the Opera House

We stayed here twice, before and after a recent cruise. The location was perfect, just steps from the overseas passenger terminal. The accomodations were exceptional and the service even better. The views of the bridge, opera house, and cruise ship terminal were breathtaking from our rooms. On my first arrival I received a reduced rate upgrade and on my second a complimentary one which improved the value. I purchased executive lounge access on the first stay which included evening drinks/canapes, breakfast, and free wifi. It was convenient, but of questionable value and was surprised that drinks were self serve which I liked, but it might bother someone else with expectation of being waited on. We used the pool and fitness facility which were both fine. The spa was under renovation but accomodations made for my wife to receive services. Concierge service was fantastic. Car service to and from the airport was pricey but luxurious and enjoyable. This stay has reinforced my loyalty to the Four Seasons brand.

Room Tip: Do yourself a favor and get a harbor view room. The views are breathtaking.

I was staying there for a corporate workshop, and the standard of service was first class. I was made to feel very much at home, and the new meeting room facility was perfect for our needs. The location couldnt be better, and I'll certainly be back, as it surpasserd my expectations by a considerable margin.

Room Tip: The corner room I had was very spacious with a great view.

The hotel was an easy, less than ten minute walk from our Princess cruise ship - my wife and I just rolled our suitcases along the smooth sidewalks. The hotel was as expected - in very good condition for an older building and convenient to a Hop On - Hop Off stop (bought tickets at concierge) and to the ferry, shopping, etc. The staff was very courteous and helpful in arranging an early check in and a late check out for us. The executive level amenities each day of two great buffet breakfasts, snacks and soft drinks throughout the day and adult beverages in the evening were well worth what we paid which, as I recall - subject to being wrong, was something like a total of $100 extra per night ($100 total for the two of us per night). The hotel room size was average but the bed and pillows were exceptional - no problem resting whatsoever. We were on the 30th floor and never had any elevator problems despite our frequent use of them. Our room did not have a harbor view but we did not miss it because there was so much to do outside the hotel during our short visit and besides, we spent a couple of hours looking at the harbor while enjoying our refreshments in the executive level area on the 32nd floor.

We stayed here for Easter break for four nights and had good and not so good experiences to take away with us. Would I stay again, not so sure?

This hotel was a little over priced for its age, average price $445pn. It is undergoing renovations but only in the public areas it appears. The rooms could do with a complete update to bring them into this decade. The bed, while big and comfortable only had sheets covering the duvet and as the night went on you were exposed to a bare duvet which other guests would have slept in days before (not very hygienic and frankly very very disappointing)

The rooms are a good size though, we booked a grand premier city room as we had our 8 month old baby with us and all the stuff that you need for an infant. But even with all her stuff you still had room to move about!

Upon check-in the hotel was very accommodating with our baby needs, or so we thought......

On arrival we had a cot in the room and were told at reception upon check-in to just call room service when we needed hot water for the bottles. So on the first night we did this and they had boiling water and a bottle steriliser sent to our room upon request. However on the second night we requested the same only to be confronted with a not so nice response to say we had a kettle in the room for boiling water and this was only after two attempts to have the hot water delivered to our room which were both ignored by room service. We explained that reception informed us that this service could be provided upon request and their response was that the water in the room was there to boil with the kettle provided. We expressed our concern over using bathroom water for our baby’s bottles and with all that they gave in and decided to send the water but with a long wait once again.

With regards to the cot provided…… It was like something out of the 1920’s so needless to say we did not use it and I would highly recommend that management replace these decrepit items with cots befitting the room rate. Also, you would expect a 5 star hotel to have a bottle warmer available to guests traveling with infants, wouldn’t you? But no, not the Four Seasons, they obviously don’t consider the needs or comforts for their guests with babies (why is this, do infants not matter to the four seasons?)

If management is reading this I hope this helps with improving your hygiene and baby services but you are to be commended on your staff especially the greeting staff and of course reception staff. One last thing $17/$18 to view a movie in your room is a little excessive even for the Four Seasons. It would be cheaper to buy your own and take it with you, just a thought.
