Let me start by saying that the rating came down to the staff. The fantastic staff made this hotel stay great. We stayed here for three nights and upon arrival checked in to our room only to realise that there would be no way two of us could stay in such a small room so down we went and we were taken to one of the superior rooms to view, definitely much better so we paid for the upgrade and off we went to a bigger room. Now I understand that the standard rooms are designed for single occupancy but they really are rather small, maybe a smaller bed in the room would help. Being heritage listed I understand that not much can be done to the structure and so the creaking floors were a little annoying until we moved again to the upstairs room but there really is no excuse for mouldy shower curtains, chipped basins and missing shower tray. I won't go too much into the powerpoints as I know these have been mentioned but it really is annoying to have them all along the skirting board. The hotel has such potential if only a little money would be invested in the little things. But back to the staff, friendly, attentive, always there to assist. Could not fault the service one little bit, keep up the great work. Overall I would stay again but would definitely recommend management make some upgrades, no one like to shower with mouldy curtains.
If you like your space or travelling in two then definitely book the superior room, the standard is...

We certainly appreciate you taking the time to review our hotel.
With the service being such an important factor to our culture at 8Hotels, it pleases us to hear the comments like “fantastic staff made this hotel stay great” and “Could not fault the service one little bit, keep up the great work”. It is feedback such as yours that keeps us motivated and enthusiastic to deliver an above and beyond level of service standard to all our guests.
We are always working on improving the hotel to provide our guests with the highest quality product, and to this end we thank you for bringing the rooms condition to our attention so we can arrange the maintenance team to work on a solution.
We like to think of our hotel as a small work in progress and we are looking into upgrading our bathrooms, refresh the painting in the rooms, improving the sound-proofing to assist with the privacy throughout the hotel and upgrade the lighting in the rooms. We are looking for the best ways to renovate the bathrooms and as you could imagine, this could be a longer process. We are also working on improving the current situation for our guests to ensure all the necessary basics like power points are available in an easily accessible location. All these projects will take place in the coming months and we are confident we will be able to offer a more attractive hotel in the near future.
We do have our shower curtains rotated on a daily basis to ensure that are maintained to a higher level of cleanliness. I do apologise if your rooms shower curtain was not up to standard, as this is something you should not have to worry about when staying with us.
We certainly look forward to welcoming you back to the Kirketon Hotel soon and would like to once again thank you for your wonderful feedback.
