This was our third time staying at Vibe Sydney and everything was just as good as the previous couple of times, if not better. We had a nice, spacious room on the 7th floor - although nothing will beat the room on the top floor we got the very first time we stayed, which was huge with floor-to-ceiling windows and had a lovely big sofa as well as loads of extra space. I think we've come back every other time in the hope that we'll get such an awesome room again, but alas it hasn't happened. Still, the room we had this visit was spacious enough.
Bed was very comfortable, plenty of wardrobe space with lovely big mirrored doors. The bathroom was ok - although the whole having to get the water temperature right with the hot and cold taps while trying not to get burnt or frozen in the process is a bit of a pain - a proper water temperature mixer would be much better. And we noticed the plumbing/toilet seemed to make some pretty odd noises during the times we were in the room - gurgling kind of noises?!?
We had mentioned in our booking that we would be on our honeymoon and we found a lovely bottle of complimentary sparkling wine in our room when we arrived which was much appreciated. We noticed that the rooftop pool area has been renovated a bit since our last visit, with fake grass having been put down and much fancier outdoor furniture, where we enjoyed our bottle of wine. The rooftop area is certainly a nice selling point of a hotel like this is central Sydney.
The location of the hotel is excellent - about a 4 minute walk to Museum Station and Hyde Park. A bit of a hike to Circular Quay - maybe 15 minutes? And also to Darling Harbour - about 15 minutes in the other direction too. There is a supermarket about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and the pub across the road - The Crown - is excellent.
Two tiny grips we had this visit - the staff that checked us in was not overly welcoming and did ask my husband to repeat his surname 3 times before she checked for the booking, and just looked at him blankly each time he repeated it - and it's not a very complicated surname! But the second staff member we approached to ask about the location of a petrol station, so we could fill up our rental car before returning it, was very friendly and helpful, which made up for the first staff member. The second thing is that there is no car parking available if you arrive by car. We had planned to park out front of the hotel very briefly to check in, then return the car but there is no driveway or parking area in front of the hotel. There is a large parking building across the road from the hotel, which is where I believe you have to park if you have a car while at the hotel and which is where we parked while we briefly checked in before returning our rental car. Something to keep in mind if you are planning to arrive by car.
Overall, our third stay at Vibe did not disappoint and no doubt we will be back for a fourth stay in the near future.
Top floor rooms are the best in the hotel, with floor to ceiling windows, lovely big sofas and loads...
