Just out of the city, with corresponding lower tariff. Room was a good size with great city views (including the Opera House). Room was clean, well maintained, very comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Parking ($18 per day) reasonable, service pleasant and helpful. Close to dozens of cafes, restaurants, pubs.

Stayed at the Cambridge Hotel with my husband and two children for three nights in August. We had a room with two double beds and it was quite spacious and very clean. We could walk to circular quay (about 25 mins) or to darling harbour (15 min) and even walked to Kings Cross. The location was great with many restaurants within a five minute walk. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and the kids loved it. They even had a swim in the pool. Only downer was the noise from the street on a busy Saturday night. I would recommend it and this will be my hotel of choice if I go to Sydney again.

My partner and I stayed 4 nights at this hotel with an 18month old. We were first put in a room with no balcony and no portacot (both were requested) so I went to reception and asked if we could be moved and they were more than happy to relocate us (ok 1 staff member did the "have you got confirmation of this") on me but he was alright - just doing his job I guess. Anyway they gave us a city view room with our balcony and portacot and we loved it. Would recommend the front of the building - at least the 7th floor for views at night.
The room was cleaned to a very high standard - the cleaning team are a credit to the hotel.
We had dinner in the restaurant (which is usually hard with a little one) BUT the waiter (and it was his first night on) was soooo friendly and accomodating......even the manager came in with a small heart that changed colours for our daughter and that kept her totally amused while we enjoyed a great meal.
We didnt have to use public transport as we walked to Paddys Market and the Opera House etc. Having a supermarket and bottle store across the road was handy !
I would certainly recommend this hotel - great value ! We will be back again and will request the same room.
THANK YOU TO MANAGERS AND STAFF FOR YOUR REAL FRIENDLY SERVICE :)

Friendly hotel with good location within 30 minutes walk of most of Sydney's major attractions and the harbour. Duffys supermarket just across the road from hotel for supplies. Airport transfer from hotel cheaper than train. Room bright, clean and functional. Don't miss St Mary's Cathdral an oasis for reflection ina busy city.
Good buzz in the evening. Lots of restaurants and huge variety to suit all price ranges. Some 'interesting' characters about at night.

We booked this hotel as it was the cheapest modern looking hotel i could find (by looking at the pictures). It was in a good position, near Oxford St and Hyde Park which was perfect considering we were there to run in the City the Surf which starts at Hyde Park.

The room was big and had a balcony (but this will depend on the room you get...our friends room was a lot smaller and no balcony) and was reasonably clean .

The points to note:

1. There is a pub down the end of the street and everyone was there on the Sat night - very noisy and didnt really get much sleep. You can hear everything!
2. The bedsheet was torn.
3. The tiles is in the room were a bit mouldy and bath tub was fading in large spots.
4. The thing shocked us the most was when we got back later than our friends who took both theirs and our room key (b/c we didnt know which was which) and we asked reception for a spare key to our room. Without asking for ID they handed over a room key. It just so happened that we asked for the wrong room number (our friends room number accidently). So basically we could have walked into anyone's room at any time. I suppose the point is that i wouldnt be very happy if someone off the street could get entry into my room so easily!

Overall it was good for the price and location.

We only stayed her for one night but the rooms were lovely, very clean and comfy beds. Reception staff were very helpful. Location was a little too far out if you were going to be staying for longer and there were no nearby bus/train stops not that i saw anyway but i was only there 24hours. Would definitely recommend though!
