“Quiet, Intimate and Well Located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

I enjoyed my three night stay at the Holiday Inn Old Sydney. I was in Sydney for work and the hotel was within easy walk of the CBD. The view from the rooftop pool is truly amazing (Sydney Opera House, Harbour and Sydney Harbour Bridge) and while my room looked over the historic Rocks district I found it quiet and peaceful. The hotel bar is nice and the staff working there are fantastic and really go the extra mile.

There are some fantastic breakfast cafes within metres of the hotel so I would recommend eating there rather than the hotel restaurant which is unremarkable and like every other hotel. International visitors would enjoy the location I think.

The hotel is located in an historic building so my room was small and the bathroom needed renovation. However, I grew to really enjoy coming back to the room because it was cozy and comfortable.

We stayed for three nights on arrival in Australia for our six week tour. Excellent Hotel and location. Good restaurant and very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms well presented. Walking distance to a good selection of restaurants and bars - and a short walk to the harbour. Would highly recommend and would certainly stay again on our next visit to Sydney

we booked here, not expecting it to be so nice. So when we got into our rooms and had the choice of soft or firm pillows we were really suprised! we had a twin double room. It wasnt what you would say big, but enough room for a few friends to meet up and sit around having a couple of drinks before we went out. bathroom was really clean and modern. Overall really good price for the quality and exactly what you need for a room if your in sydney for a night out. Great service too with the carparking... we were all a little under the weather the next day and needed to go get some lunch before the drive home. they were more than OK to let us keep our car in the valet carpark until 4pm...

My wife and I recently spent our wedding anniversary at the Holiday Inn The Rocks 29th and 30th of September, 2012. We received a bottle of bubbly from mangement, and a room overlooking the harbour. Like a few other reviews we were kept awake by the noise of the club across the road. This didn't really worry us as it added to the atmosphere of the Rocks area. The next morning I went to reception and spoke to Catherine at reception, who I know from Holiday Inn on Flinders (Melbourne) (I stay on a regular basis at H.I on Flinders). I mentioned the noise and she offered an upgrade to an executive King bigger room and full view of the bridge. (Thanks Catherine). Great breakfast no faults with this property.

Dear Phillip B

Thank you for the kind review and compliments to Catherine, she is a great Ambassador for our hotel and we are lucky to have her from Melbourne... PS She is originally from Sydney which is something we are very proud of.

As you celebrated your anniversary with us in October we are celebrating ours and all our guest's birthdays with a special surprise.

If you make it back this month for a birthday it will be great if not see you in the near future.

Thanks again

We arrived hours early not expecting a room to be ready but we were given a room straight away. Location is excellent, within walking distance to great little cafes, fancy restaurants, access to ferries/trains/buses, and of course awesome location for viewing harbour bridge, opera house etc. Service was good, kids enjoyed the rooftop pool.

We recently had a stay over in Sydney and stayed here partly as we are loyalty members and partly due to the location.
It was a fantstic night and a great hotel to stay in.
The staff - especially Catherine on the front desk, could not do enough for us, and the room we had, had a great view of the opera house.
Be aware on Friday nights, it was quite noisy with a disco across the road - but I did sleep OK due to being very tired.
Overall - -very good.

Dear LovesAWine (ps I do too)

Thank you for the great feedback, I get excited to hear when our team have made such an impression. Catherine, like myself, will be glowing with pride when she reads this.

Please do not we work closely with our local community to ensure all our businesses prosper without inconveniencing each other, the noise issues of late have been kept to a minimum.

Happy to hear you love us at the Holiday Inn Old Sydney and look forward to serving you some nice wine on your return.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times - all for business. It is right in the heart of the tourist Rocks area but I love waking up being a stones throw from the bridge, harbour and opera house. Not only that there some very quirky cafe's , bars and eating places

The hotel service is great.

If possible, avoid low level front facing rooms. ( night club across the road.)
