We are long time subscribers to the Ensemble - I can recall Hayes Gordon on stage. What a great presence he had and what a commanding voice. After seeing him in "Fiddler" I saw the movie starring Topol and immediately could not help but regard Hayes as by far the greater performer. He may be long gone but you know he is watching.
The theatre "in the round" never disappoints and provides plays of great diversity and depth but never so "arty" that one leaves thinking "what on earth was that all about". One always leaves chuckling - go and see the current play "Camp" - which is hilarious; or leave deep in thought. New actors of great ability just crop up and I never cease to wonder at the depth of talent in this country. The only rider I now reluctantly have is that the Waterside Restaurant has becoming prohibitively expensive and standards have fallen - so you might wish to dine up the street.
