For me the Bridge Room was a mix of several positive aspects that just didn't reach it's full potential. The food was excellent, full of flavour and presented well. The service was the harder part to summarize. The individual waiters as well as the sommelier came across well as individuals but as a team it wasn't a well oiled machine eg. when your bottle of white wine is kept away from the table and your glass has been empty for 5 minutes mid meal you shouldn't have to try and wave down a waiter to top you up. Also once we paid the bill we couldn't find any staff on the floor to say thankyou to so just headed off in to the night. Perhaps the strangest part is there credit card surcharge policy. There is a 1.5% surcharge automatically added to your bill before you even indicate how you plan to pay. Is was the table next to us complaint about it to the waiter that bought it to our intention as I have never seen this done at any restuarant before.
Each of these are fairly minor issues but added up they can become the difference between the Bridge Room and other 2 hat restuarants. But in saying that the price of food, considering the excellent quality delivered was very reasonable, probably the best I have come across for a long time. So would I recommend the Bridge Room? Yes, but with minor reservations.
