“Almost there”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

For me the Bridge Room was a mix of several positive aspects that just didn't reach it's full potential. The food was excellent, full of flavour and presented well. The service was the harder part to summarize. The individual waiters as well as the sommelier came across well as individuals but as a team it wasn't a well oiled machine eg. when your bottle of white wine is kept away from the table and your glass has been empty for 5 minutes mid meal you shouldn't have to try and wave down a waiter to top you up. Also once we paid the bill we couldn't find any staff on the floor to say thankyou to so just headed off in to the night. Perhaps the strangest part is there credit card surcharge policy. There is a 1.5% surcharge automatically added to your bill before you even indicate how you plan to pay. Is was the table next to us complaint about it to the waiter that bought it to our intention as I have never seen this done at any restuarant before.

Each of these are fairly minor issues but added up they can become the difference between the Bridge Room and other 2 hat restuarants. But in saying that the price of food, considering the excellent quality delivered was very reasonable, probably the best I have come across for a long time. So would I recommend the Bridge Room? Yes, but with minor reservations.

“Fine dining experience in the CBD”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

Dined with friends at The Bridge Room in Bridge Street, central Sydney. Restaurant is on a corner in an older building and we had a round table in an alcove at the far end - possibly the best table in the restaurant and comfortable for the six of us. Nice and quiet with unobtrusive background noise.

Service was efficient and professional without being stifling and worked seamlessly. Waiters were friendly and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble, even making a fussy diner in our party happy.

We started with Tanqueray Gin martini's which were excellent. The food was outstanding - I can recommend the entree of Moreton Bay Bugs with endive, chilli and tamarind which was outstanding. My wife had the spanner crab that was beautifully presented but a bit under-seasoned for her palate. The rest of the party were very happy with their choices. For the mains, the Wagyu Beef with marrow was the standout, as was the ocean trout. We shared two desserts and a cheese plate (all very good) to finish the meal.

The wine list was also excellent and I chose a Southern Rhone Gigondas at $105 which was outstanding. We consumed their last two bottles!

Overall an excellent fine dining experience, enjoyed by all and highly recommended.

“Fab dinning experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

We went here for dinner on a Friday night. There we're five of us and although it was busy the staff we're really attentive and pleasant. The food is so amazing!! It the best meal I've had in Sydney in a while. We started with cocktails which we're lovely. And then had a 3 course meal each. All my dishes we're great! Really well balanced and so yummy. From the cute winter saled, to the sirloin to the white choc and blood orange dessert. So good. The dishes were a good size in that after 3 courses you don't feel stuffed but satisfied - what you would expect from fine dinning. For the quality food it's really great value.

“Top Quality food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

The Bridge Room provides a well balanced menu - all excellent ingredients, well prepared, well presented, original in many of the concepts and overall, a very pleasant dining experience. My calamari was delicious and original and the concept of the flavours in what you pay for. Others in my group had the spanner crab with mandarin which was an inspired choice. My Junee lamb fillet with parsnips ,and salted leek provided a great combination of flavours.
Although fairly expensive, you are paying for the skills and experience of a talented chef and worth the expense for the occasion.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

My friend and I secured a last minute table here on Saturday night for what was going to be The Best Dining Experience I have ever had in Australia!! Everything we ate was spectacular. The service was professional, extremely knowledgable and very friendly. The wine list was fantastic. This restaurant is definitely not one to be missed, book now!
