“Fantastic Spa!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2014

Well worth a visit.
I had a hot stone massage which was a first for me, but loved the experience.
Everything from the friendly welcome from the staff to the fruit platter afterwards... and of course the massage which was one of the best I've had in a while. ALSO - Make use of the hamam! It's a Turkish bath/hot room which was THE way to slowly transition from massage bliss back to the real world. Take 20 minutes...

If position is what you want then The Darling which has only been opened two years ago is on the wrong side of the harbour and a hotel near The Rocks would be your best choice. If you like a gamble in the evening then this is the hotel for you as the casino and restaurants are tripping distance from your hotel. Of course the 20 minute boat ride which passes under Sydney harbour bridge to take you to the ferry terminal and The Rocks is worth the trip as the views are fabulous.

Enter this hotel and the minimalist décor smacks you in the face. A plethora of various marbles and granite assault you but all beautifully done. The reception staff are very courteous and helpful, but the concierge desk is usually unmanned and you often have to wait for the roving concierge to arrive before you can get your questions answered.

We had a suite with a view of the harbour and a distant view of the bridge. The view is rather overshadowed by an extremely large and ugly sports complex, so make sure your room is on a high floor so your view is over the top of this hideous building.

The lounge is separated by a wall with two doors which allow you to close off the bedroom. Back to back televisions are on either side of the wall. There was a complimentary bottle of bubbly waiting for us and 1 solitary apple on an arty plate. Very minimalist.

Comfortable beds and a separate dressing room off the ample sized bathroom. The hotel seems to have a problem with water pressure. The shower works fine, but trying to fill up the bath took 30 minutes, so make sure you have plenty of time if you want a soak.

Service in the bar was good and the restaurant on the ground floor is extremely buzzy at night.

Overall a very pleasant stay and I won money in the casino. Yippee!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor with a view

Dear ExplorerLondonUK,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us.

The award winning lobby design, which mixes a vast selection of marbles and unique design pieces, back dropped by the buzzing Sydney hot spot Sokyo, is only a part of the Darling experience.

Our expertise lies in the detail, which you may have noticed, by staying in the Jewel Spa Suite, from the Molton Brown amenities to the distinct exclusive Darling Plum Robes. And of course that complimentary bottle of bubbly…

We do hope you had time to enjoy some of the amazing restaurants on offer here at The Darling, such as the Three Hatted Momofuku Restaurant. I’m sure we can catch the roving Concierge upon your next visit to arrange something very special.

Until we meet again…

We stayed at the Darling just after Christmas and talk about perfect service. We were looked after by the staff as if we were royals. The location is fantastic so close to Darling Harbour and lots to do right at your door step. Best service ever. Thanks Dean for all your little extras.

We arrived at our "standard" room to find out that it was awful. The design was poor with a table virtually blocking the aisle in the middle of the room. Worst of all it overlooked the pool so that the sunbathers were looking directly into our room and they were close by. That felt really creepy. Lots of electronics in the room including the curtains but they could only be all open or all closed which made the room very dark.

I went down immediately and asked to pay for an upgrade. After a few minutes they came back and graciously comped us into a beautiful suite. The layout was spacious, modern in design with all the comforts that we could need.

Best of all was the service. We had lots of little requests for meals, directions, tours, air check in et al. Every item was handled promptly and professionally. The concierge virtually walked us to a restaurant. The front desk was equally helpful.

Despite the poor start, I rate The Darling an excellent choice.

Room Tip: Our "standard room" on the 6th floor facing the pool was unacceptable.

This feels a new hotel with modern features and designed for comfort. We had a very friendly and helpful check-in process and were very pleased with the room quality. The hotel's location just off Darling Harbour but with a lovely residential area around it added to the atmosphere. The biggest disappointment was the buffet breakfast which is shared with the casino and the second hotel on the premises. The quality and ambience was shockingly poor given the hotel standard. The other negative that really needs addressing is the high cost of internet access. In this day and age it has to be a given - high speed and cost included in the room rate.

Room Tip: Try and get well above the 7th floor and a Darling Harbour view.

Dear ET,

Thank you very much for sharing your recent experience with us. We are so happy to hear that you experienced a friendly and hassle free your arrival. All the modern features on offer means nothing without our Darlings to ensure a lovely stay.

Pyrmont is a beautiful Sydney Suburb, with so many local secrets on offer. You only have to know where to look and our Concierge are more than happy to help. Perhaps even recommend a great local breakfast café, like Antidote found at the footstep of the hotel.

In regards to the internet, always keep an eye out out for those WiFi inclusive packages, or sign up to our Absolute Rewards membership to enjoy various perks, which may include free Wifi on your future stays!

What a fantastic place to say!! It all starts from the moment you walk into reception where you’re greeted by extremely friendly staff to check you in. It does not matter what sort of room you get as they are all beautifully presented and well appointed. A very nice touch is as soon as you enter your room the curtains slide open to reveal an amazing view over the city. The bed would have to be about the best I have ever slept in, the sheets feel like silk and the mattress super soft but supportive. The Molton Brown products used in the bathroom are of extremely high quality and smell amazing. Breakfast in the Garden Buffet was worth it if you enjoy a great buffet with plenty of choices with great flavour and if you love dessert a trip to Adriano Zumbos bar is a must. The location is also perfect as you’re a short walk away to catch a Ferry around to Circular Quay or to Darling Harbour which is full of amazing restaurants and things to do.

Dear Chris S,

Thank you so much for such an amazing review! We are so excited to hear that you loved your arrival experience, our Darlings being a crucial ingredient to every memorable stay!

Our various rooms and suites have one thing in common, the attention paid to every detail; from the custom Darling Bed to the exclusive range of Molton Brown amenities. And of course our guests, with an impeccable eye for detail who know how to enjoy such little luxuries on offer.

And no stay is complete without a dessert fix from Adriano Zumbo, found only steps away from your door......as we can see you discovered.

Until we meet again…
