“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

I booked a King Deluxe room online and got a very good rate. The hotel is conveniently located. I took the airport train to King Cross station and from there it was no more than 5 minutes walk to the hotel. There are also buses right in front of the hotel that would take you to the Circular Quay where you can either walk to the central business district or connect to ferries and other buses. There are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants in the Kings Cross area. My room is quite comfortable for a solo traveler although the entrance to the bathroom is really close to the bed and maybe a bit difficult to maneuver for a large person. For all its convenience and the price I paid which was about $110 USD a night, this hotel is good value for the money.

The hotel is just a short walking distance away from Kings Cross train station and Kings Cross street itself. Lots of food places nearby. Rooms are really small, suitable for one or two people maximum. Very clean and the receptionists are really friendly and approachable. I would stay here again, for sure.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5th floor do not have lift access and the floors creak in room 505, which can be heard...

We stayed at this hotel for one night over the long weekend ( Queens B'day) for a friend's wedding which was near by in Point Piper. We booked due to it's convenient location - as it's right in the middle of Kings Cross/Potts Point, HOWEVER - it's right on the main street, where everyone congregates at night.
We arrived at 1pm and found the street quiet, clean and with many locals cruising around, as well as a great little spot to have coffee next door just below Hugo's.

HOWEVER - at night, this street is FULL of drunken kids and teens and young adults, all taking over the street in a mess of drunken, foul-mouthed, loud, vomitty chaos. There is a taxi queue right out the front of the hotel, where there is a long line of people queued up, fighting, vomiting, and shouting and it's a terrible disgrace of poor public behaviour. We arrived home from the wedding at 1am, and it was a completely different environment - esp arriving to a girl throwing up on the very doorstep of the hotel. The poor security guard of the hotel having to wash hot water over it for us to step into the secure/locked hotel front entrance! ( you do need a secure card to swipe into the hotel after hours).

BUT - in saying that - the hotel concierge was LOVELY - very friendly and helpful and very welcoming! Our room was clean, well appointed, modern, good amenities, warm and liveable. We had a great sleep, comfortable bed, and the room was warm and pleasant. There was also plenty of room for our luggage, hanging up clothes, secure with a good door lock, stairs and lift to each floor ( no balconies though), a small lobby with a lounge area, and also a safe/lockable spot for us to leave our luggage for the entire next day to collect it later that evening.

The hotel is great for the price per night - very much good value and affordable - it's a pity though that the clients of the 'World Bar' and 'Hugo's' and the surrounding bars on the same street below have a clientele that create a 'drunken jungle' outside the hotel's doorstep.... so be warned if you are staying here over a weekend.

But as mentioned, in the day, the street is clean, quiet, and there is even a lovely little mini-farmers market style deli downstairs offering fresh coffee and fresh fruit & juices. The contrast between day and night is flabbergasting.....

SO - as mentioned above, this hotel is great value, clean and modern and well appointed. We would stay here again, but just not on a weekend.

NB - Victoria Street cafe's just a short stroll away and easy access to other close by areas and restaurants.

Room Tip: As above - perhaps re-think what night over a weekend you are intending to stay due to the activitie...

We stayed here for about a week in June of 2014. It is very conveniently located, about a block from the Kings Cross metro station. There are very many affordable restaurants within an easy walk (1-3 blocks) and a supermarket a block away. As noted in other reviews, street-side rooms may get some noise in the early morning hours, when the nearby restaurants and bars close down. We found it acceptable and I liked the partial view of the Harbor Bridge and Opera House. The elevator is slow and small by U.S. standards, but adequate for 2 adults and their luggage. There's a lounge downstairs with microwave, etc. for warming up food or eating leftovers. The desk staff is most helpful, courteous, and friendly. The slightly higher price for a somewhat larger room is a nice upgrade, offering a workdesk, sofa, and coffee table. Room came with a hairdryer, iron, ironing board, small refrigerator, free wi-fi, and satellite TV. Well worth the price we paid and a place we'd gladly stay again.

Room Tip: Street side rooms may be a bit noisy in the early morning.

We stayed at the Bayswater on May 29th and our stay was only (sadly!) one night. First of all, the hotel is extremely convenient to get to via King's Cross Station which was extremely helpful after a few extremely long days of international travel. We had arrived very early that morning, and we were delighted that they would hold our luggage (no cost) in a secure room until we could check in to our room. We were pleasantly surprised when check in was available earlier than expected. The concierge at the front desk was very polite and answered all of our questions.

Our room was on the third floor and to the back of the hotel. No view, but we weren't expecting it. It was a clean, modern room, but did seem very compressed. Maybe tried to put too much in such a little space. Bathroom was great, but again very compressed. Shower could have been way smaller and would have made a huge difference. But overall we were very impressed with the room, though couldn't imagine staying there for more than a couple nights.

We did not experience any noise issues, despite the surrounding area being Kings Cross. Some seem concerned about the safety of the hotel in the KC area, but we felt very safe, and secure. We were at a late movie during our stay and experienced no issues coming back to the hotel late at night. Only carded guests can get in from 11-7 and they always have someone on duty, 24/7.
Also the café, located just left of the hotel doors, is incredibly convenient, had an excellent selection, and they were always open early! Overall, The Bayswater Sydney exceeded our expectations and we definitely recommend it as the perfect place when coming to Sydney for a couple of nights.

I don't usually stay in this part of Sydney. This was a nice surprise. Great hotel. Clean, good beds. Bathroom small but quite ok. Staff were really pleasant. My phone charger had a problem, the went and found one for me. The Cross is a bit of a sideshow but seems to be good restaurants nearby.

The lobby and reception were clean and staff polite. Our room was large and comfortable and even though we were on a busy street the noise levels were very low.

The very best feature of this hotel is the location. Kings Cross Rail Station was only 300 meters away and there is a Coles grocery store 100 meters from the door.

They stored our luggage for the day and were very helpful with instructions on getting around.
