Sydney has some great waterside dining, And kingsleys at woolloomooloo wharf (Steersons sister restaurant) gets service, food and location all in one package. I'm not sure how Steersons at King Street Wharf gets it so wrong.
The maitre d was competent, however the rest of the experience would have been comical, except for the frustration of knowing, you are hungry, thirsty and are paying $100 a head for this experience.
It appeared we didn't have a waiter allocated to us, so the entire lunch was spent trying to make eye contact to get food, wine, water etc, a personal pet hate is when your food is dumped on your table, and no one checks or makes eye contact to ensure that all is well. What was worse is that when I finally got some attention and asked the waitress as to if the medium rare steak I ordered was in fact medium rare(more medium to well) she then argued! Steer sons actually describes what they view to be medium/ medium rare in their menu, so when their staff hasn't even read the menu- what hope do you have? Plates were cleared, water and wine glasses were left empty, and even though there was a lot of staffing setting up tables, we could not get any service.
I strongly recommend avoiding Steersons, go to The Cut (the Rocks) or Kingsleys (Woolloomooloo.)
