“Spacious family room - great value for money!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

I booked the family into the Anderledy Lodge on short notice as a treat - we were heading into the city for the Vivid Festival. I was pleased with the standard of the apartment and, being complete with kitchen, could happily have stayed longer. As the 2 bedrooms are at opposite ends of a large lounge room, we were able to stay up after putting the kids to bed without disturbing them. As a nice quid pro quo, we didn't hear them in the morning until about 8! The room was quiet, both night and day.

I distinctly remember waking up surprised it was already light, surprised how soundly I had slept and impressed by the enormously high ceilings. The one drawback of those high ceilings is that the room is difficult to heat up. As we were there in winter, I was very appreciative that we had a room with air-conditioning. (I think all the 2 bedroom suites have this, but I am not sure about other styles of room.) We also asked for extra blankets, which the night manager brought to our room directly.

The breakfast provided was really enjoyable, and set us up nicely for a day out and about in the city.

All in all, an excellent experience. Would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone, and particularly those travelling with kids.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2012

We stayed at Anderledy Lodge in February for 4 nights. Our room was on the 2nd floor facing William Street. There was a small self-contained kitchen which had microwave and 2 hot plates.

As everyone else has commented Anderledy is simple, clean accommodation. All the staff are extremely friendly.

Although our room faced William Street, there was no traffic noise at all and I am a very light sleeper. The only negative for me was the 3 storey offices directly opposite...they left every single light on 24 hours a day and as the curtains in the bedroom are not of blockout material, the room was very light at night time. I'm used to sleeping in a dark room so I found it a problem, but if I stayed again would pack some night shades.

We stayed at Anderledy lodge whilst visiting our son in Sydney. The location is excellent being close to Nth Sydney station. The gardens are lovely, a little oasis in the city. Our room with an ensuite was very clean, with a lovely garden outlook. The bed was a little small being a double. Whilst the lodge was very quiet at night there was lots of early morning noise with people using bathrooms and opening and closing doors. It is an old building hence not a lot of sound proofing.

Breakfast in the dining room was ample and again the ambience was terrific. The staff were friendly and courteous. We toured through the chapel and museum which was fascinating. Would definitely stay again.

I stayed here for a work conference, never having heard of the lodge before. It's part of the complex maintained by the Sisters of St Joseph and includes the church where Mother Mary of the Cross is buried (regardless of your faith, make sure you visit this remarkable site).

The accommodation was simple, clean and welcoming with friendly and effective staff. Breakfast was excellent. The site is, as other reviewers have commented, an oasis and a place of calm. Nothing here is fancy, and I imagine some of the rooms on the outer perimeter of the property may be subject to some street noise, but I had a delightful, restful stay that made a busy couple of days enjoyable.

Anderledy Lodge is within easy walking distance of North Sydney railway station, and therefore readily accessible from the airport and CBD. Restaurants and other facilities abound in the area, and yet this is still a haven. I will be returning for both work and recreation.

Anderledy really is an oasis in the city. It's located just 3 blocks (uphill) from the North Sydney train station - and accessibility to the wharf and CBD is just 15 - 20 minutes. There are restaurants and shopping nearby. Once you get onto the grounds, though, you're just enfolded in a peaceful, secure, beautiful environment. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on level 2 of Anderledy Lodge. We had small maintenance frustrations including a TV that didn't work, unreliable internet access, and a clothes washer that didn't drain properly -- but everything else was well done. The TV was eventually replaced, my handy husband dealt with the washer, and the internet just wasn't that important as we were busy touring during most of our days. The breakfast and the setting are exceptional. The gardens are lush and beautiful. A breakfast on the veranda in the morning makes for a peaceful, delightful start to the day. I couldn't rate it a 5 due to the maintenance issues, but we felt the value and the environment overall easily made up for them! We would stay here again and we would recommend it to our family and friends.

I stayed at Anderledy Lodge recently for a work realted conference on the same site. As mentioned this is part of the Mary McKillop Place site.
My room on the third floor of Temuka Lodge was spacious and comfortable and the whole venue very clean. There are also ample lounge areas to spend time relaxing or catching up with colleagues.
Continental breakfast each morning was more than adequate. We also had lunch and a evening meal which were both satisfactory. The delicacies on offer at break times for our group though were excellent!
The only negative really is that this is a central city site with all the noise you might expect from street cleaners etc causing broken nights sleep for this reviewer! Also, there are many groups coming through the site to visit the museum etc although they were not really too visible.
We were able to enjoy a relaxing afternoon walking to the Rocks across Sydney Harbour Bridge from the venue. Being in the heart of North Sydney there is everything available to you with a short walk!
Pleasant staff contributed to an enjoyable stay.

I stayed at the Anderledy lodge for 5 nights in mid March, which is part of the Mary MacKillop Place site.
Stayed in a single room(#19) on the first floor. The room is on the small side but clean and comes with a flat screen tv, study, desk and wardrobe. There are many similar rooms sharing ample and clean bathrooms. towels and toiletries are provided.
The lodge is mainly used by people attending meetings, conferences, etc at Mary MacKillop place. The evenings are particularly quiet but being a light sleeper. i found mornings a little noisy as the room doors starting banging along with the shared bathroom doors from the crack of dawn.
There is a reception deskwith limited local information but they are willing to help. There is also a pc available and wifi for a $5 fee.
A buffet breakfast is provided which is limited but ample. Cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruits and toasts.
Situated in the heart of the CBD in North sydney, the train station is only 10 mins walk. A nice 20 min walk will take you down to the bridge with wonderful views. Google the walk. Anderledy lodge to Sydney Harbour bridge.
Secure and a relative quiet sanctuary but not really a hotel. Its used in the main by people using Mary MacKillop place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not next to a bathroom. banging doors and ablutions may disturb you.
