“Appalling fried food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We've been here a few times before, and have enjoyed the food, as well as the view, but last night had a terrible meal. Pork schnitzel was deep fried - a thin sliver of meat in a thick coating of rock hard breadcrumbs. Veal cutlet was similarly fried - not representing it's description on the menu at all. The veg was good, as was a white fish Carpaccio. But that didn't compensate, and we both have cramps this morning. If you do go, stick to starters, which are good. But expect to pay a lot - much more than the food is worth.

“Full of promise, didn't deliver”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

Great menu, really interesting and masses of choice. The acoustics in the restaurant with the front windows shut is a bit off putting, it gets deafeningly loud. The trout carpaccio was edible but found the taste of the clam vongole a bit odd. Food wasn't that memorable and service functional not personal.

“Expensive Food & Slow food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Not very impressed for a place that has a huge reputation. Firstly we had to wait for around an hour to get a table.
When we finally got a table the service was polite and competent, but flustered with the amount of people they had to manage.
It took 1 hour to order our food and receive our starters followed by another 40 minutes to receive our mains.

The food was nice, simple and homely, but definitely not worth the $30+ price tag for the mains.
The beverages were also pricey. As an Italian wine lover, there was nothing special that deserved the prices.
The cocktails were nice, but I believe an Aperol Spritzer should be less than the $18 price tag

The location is very nice on North Bondi, but there were a large amount of people around the area and can be off-putting to people who like a more relax atmosphere.
Parking is also a nightmare on a sunny day, so be prepared to walk a fair while to the restaurant.

“Average food matches average service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Came here for a mid week lunch, so hardly their busiest time. Had to consistently flag down the staff to order a drink, food, everything. Someone needs to tell the staff that showing up for work is not just the job, they need to actually serve people. Food is average at best. Plenty of better places at bondi. View is excellent so it's best place for a drink but better places to go if you want lunch.

“Rude little upstarts”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Never again, ever. Spend almost 2k on a Christmas party yet was subjected to some of the most arrogant staff behaviour I've ever experienced. The bar guys think it's their show for the "Cute chicks" who flock to this appalling joint. Food was completely uninspiring, bordering on boring. Above all was the utter rudeness of the young and completely life inexperienced floor staff who had no idea how to serve or welcome. Eventually I got up to order some drinks as trying to catch their eye seemed to mean you were trying to pick them up only to be told "Excuse me don't interrupt, I'm talking to the owner!!!" Felt like retorting "Well if it wasn't for your guests there wouldn't be an owner and you wouldn't have a %^&* job". ps the "owner" was busy flirting with his gang of young floor chicks as I interrupted.

There are some many more small restaurants in Bondi who are trying hard and serving good food. Go here at your own risk however their rating says it all.
