Their pork knuckle is superb, the service is seamless and professional but still casual and friendly. La Boheme is that once-a-fortnight neighbourhood place you absolutely treasure." Great pork knuckle here on some nights, and a good selection of Czech beers. Fun evenings can be had.

“What a small detail can affect a rating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

I was having a relaxing Sunday afternoon in typical vintage Balmain village when I discovered La Boheme with typical northern European food from Austria and Germany and a good selection of European beers and liqueurs. I had a half a litter of dark beer, the pork belly was excellent probably one of the best I ever had That scores 4/5. The service was friendly but for desert I made the mistake to order the Belgian Chocolate Mousse that turn to be cream with some cocoa mix more like a milkshake and scores 0/5. A mousse au chocolat is much darker and thicker with the obvious small doubles in it .. I had enough of then to know a good one from a bad one but in Australia many restaurants do not give too much importance to the deserts but charge the same prices than in Europe for them! It is time they wake up and put some heart in their deserts ... it is almost as important as sex is after a good dinner! Total of the bill A$50.00.

“A Czech delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

We visited this restaurant whilst on a gourmet european food safari last weekend. We would never had known about this gem otherwise. The staff were gorgeous and personable, whilst the food was absolutely delicious. We had a goulash soup for starters, so tasty, then a pork knuckle for main and the meat was just so tender it melted in your mouth. We'' definitely go back to try some other things on the menu.

“Finger licking good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012

Came here for dinner on Friday evening having heard good reports on the new winter menu. The reports did not disappoint. Had an absolutely wonderful evening with outstanding food. The 6-7pm happy hour on Fridays was great value for money and the rack of pork ribs was just outstanding. Succulent melt in your mouth meat with a delicious marinade. The pretzel with herb and garlic butter is outstanding however rather small for the $4.50 price tag. Overall however, when the final bill arrived, for 2 people,it was outstanding value for money. Will be back.
