“What to expect for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

Got a deal of $115 included hot brekky for 2. And got what we paid for.

Ocean View Room was clean but small. A bit far back to have real viewing appeal. Breakfast was hot buffet, very basic, but again, for the price, can't complain.

Do not stay here! Its horrible. Its 10 kilometers out of coffs harbour which was the first problem. We booked in the day before as we were on a drive back from a blue mountains get away. I booked in a rush and didnt review properly, wish I did! The staff are lovely but there is nothing resort about this place. we arrived about 6pm the whole unit smelt like toilet spray! It was that bad that I covered my mouth with a scaf for most of the night! The carpet and furnishings are dated which we can deal with but where there was cockroaches crawling around the unit that was to much. We considered driving home to brisbane just so we didn't have to stay here but it waa too late, had we arrived earlier we would have left. The restraunt was good, we both had steaks which were cooked lovely and the drinks were nice. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Firstly, thank you for informing us of your experience at Aqualuna Beach Resort. There was an obvious shortfall in room expectation delivery and for this we apologise. It is a shame that you did not inform us immediately of your situation as we would of promptly addressed all of your concerns. I can inform you that the pest control issues reported have been completely rectified and that the staff have also been informed to utilise less of the deodarising spray which you claim smelt like a toilet smell. As for our location, we are located 4 km North of the Big Banana alongside two other resorts. We are actually located in Sapphire Beach - the better part of Coffs Harbour. May I suggest to all guests, that if there is any concerns regarding the accommodation standards or level of service - to report it to us immediately. We will promptly address any situation which may arise. We are 100% committed to making certain that all guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay with us.
Kind regards
Sam Kangais - General Manager

Stayed here recently in a two bedroom apartment. Price was very reasonable for the one night stay. Was very close to a lovely beach with a tennis court and pool that looked good.

I could only note that the apartment could do with a spruce up - the carpet was badly stained throughout and there were numerous dents in the wall. Some bedclothes also appeared to be dirty or stained and the fridge was leaning badly for some reason.

Pulling into the garage full of old couches, a broken fridge and Fantastic Furniture boxes, was an indicator of what was to follow. The room was pleasant enough, tidy and clean, though lumpy bed. After a night of interrupted sleep listening to a crying baby in the room next door, all I wanted was a hot shower in the morning. At best it was luke warm not using the cold tap at all and I got out of the shower colder than when I had got in.Maybe a coffee at breakfast will help...this was luke warm too. Maybe it was the lack of sleep, no hot shower and no strong, hot coffee that got me cranky, but I wouldn't return to Aqualuna. Definitely much better than a park bench on a winter's night, but for the same money, I'm sure you could do better.

Stayed for a night on a Brisbane - Canberra road trip. Paid $150 for a 2 bed, ocean view room which included a hot buffet breakfast for 4 (bargain!!). Service was friendly, we were upgraded to a 3 bedroom apartment, the room was clean, we had our ocean view, breakfast was tasty. Sure the place could do with a little updating in the rooms and around the grounds but on the whole we had no complaints at all. It's a short drive into Coffs itself but so are a number of resorts along that stretch. We would have been happy to have a longer stay.

Hubby and I stopped here last night on our trip from Gold Coast to Sydney. Stayed here some 6 years ago so basically new what we would receive.
Reception was very polite and courteous.
Over the 6 years the property has run down very much. Badly needs some updating. Garden plants have died and instead of replacing have just pulled them out. Paint is in very bad need of another painting job. The decor was very dated and old fashioned. However the view made up for it, luckily it was just for overnight. Breakfast was included and was very ordinary.

Room Tip: For older couples request an easy to walk to room. As alot are two story town houses you have alot o...
