“Great hostel!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2010

We absolutely loved this hostel. It is more like a hotel. We booked a double room and it has its own bathroom with toilet. Everything was nice and clean and the swimming pool is fantastic. Coffs Harbour Jetty is lovely, nice beached and the shopping centre is close. The Big Banana is a waste of time, but behind it there is toboggan which is good fun.

This is probably the best hostel we have stayed in during our time travelling in Australia for the last six weeks.

The kitchen is large enough to actually enjoy cooking and the double rooms are very comfortable.

The hostel is close to the beach and shops are also nearby.

When in Coffs Harbour, be sure to go to Pet Porpoise Park - it is like Sea World but smaller and with much more interaction with the animals. It's really amazing! Tickets are available from the hostel at a cheaper rate than if you were to buy at the door. Plus, it's only 500 metres from the hostel.

Excellent facilities & rooms - not a whole lot going on in Coffs but at least you can enjoy a clean, modern, spacious stay in this hostel. Excellent reception staff too. Take the double room for hotel-like quality.

Coffs harbour is a little boring but this place is a good place to stay. Its new, clean and there is a good friendly atmosphere! The rooms are decent and it has a good kitchen and pool plus the place is only 5minwalk to the beach. There is a courtesy bus into town and to the bus stop which picked us up but if your onward bus is at a different time you'll have to get a taxi ($15), the staff can help you with this no problem! One complaint, the nightly events although advertised never materialised when we stayed there! Apart from that its a good place, shame there is not more to coffs harbour then a big banana!

Coffs Harbour is a good spot to spend a few days & break up the trip from Byron Bay to sydney.
The hostel is a short walk from the train station & they even have it sign posted so I didn;t get lost.
The location is a bit of a walk from the shops & the cbd but very close to the beach & the jetty area.
The hostel is modern. clean & tidy. The TV is a bit small for a hostel but there are not many channels to choose from & unless its raining there are much nicer things to do in Coffs rather than watch TV.

Over the road is a supermarket & just a bit further a number of places to eat.

The BIG BANANNA is about a 45 minute walk or you can get a bus.

I woud echo all that has already been said about this YHA. It is clean, new, well managed and it has very friendly and helpful staff. It was our first YHA in OZ and it was so good that we stuck with YHA's for the rest of our trip. The only improvement I could suggest is to provide whiter linen. Although that provided was clean and fresh it was not of the white, starched style we had elsewhere. Maybe their laundry decision is and environmental one?
