“A Fantastic Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We had the best holiday in years over the Christmas / New Year period on our Ripples / Holidays Afloat 45' houseboat. We were The staff were fantastic, even when we burnt out a water pump on New Years Day a service person was on board less than an hour after I reported the problem to replace the pump. The scenery was beautiful and the fishing at Spencer was off the planet. Will do this trip again.

“Beautiful setting, customer service a bit lacking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

Myself and 9 friends recently spent the weekend on a Ripples Houseboat.

The booking process & ladies at reception were very helpful on our arrival but we did feel somewhat disappointed by the service received while out on the boat. After mooring near Brooklyn on Friday night we set off down river on Saturday. Unfortunately mid day one of our engines kept failing and whilst we are reasonably capable we were also inexperienced and this made manouvering the boat tricky particularly when trying to moor or drop anchor in smaller bays. We called back to the office to explain the problem and then waited for someone to come out and take a look - unfortunately this meant that we did not have the opportunity to see anymore of the waterways. After quite a while the guy told us there was a fault with the engine and advised us as to how best to handle it.

On the Sunday we were returning the boat much earlier than required as two of our group had to head back to Sydney to catch flights. Despite following the instructions to call when approaching the meeting point we were affectively left hanging around the area for 45minutes which in turn created some stress for our friends. One of our group discussed these problems and a couple of other niggles with the office on our return and felt very dismissed by the person they spoke to who suggested that the engine was 'fine when we left' and that we were not in the correct place for pick up (which is not true)

Overall a very enjoyable weekend in fabulous surroundings and with great friends but lacking a sense of customer service from Holidays Afloat.

“Pleasent stretch of water”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

I only ever viewed the river from a bridge or raised position. One needs a boat to explore it and maybe spot some of the mansions on both sides of the river. It is a very picturesque enviroment.

“Brooklyn is a good start”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

You can catch the train to Hawkesbury River Station (right at the waterfront town of Brooklyn). At Brooklyn, there are some shops and excellent fish and chips. You can catch a ferry to Dangar Island and walk around the small island. Views are stunning of the Hawkesbury River.
