“A Relaxing End to our Australian Adventure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

We spent three nights in the Sirius cottage at the end of a three week Australian adventure. It was everything that we had hoped for to enjoy a relaxing few days together. The grounds were beautiful and it was very private and quiet. Of course, the hot tub helped a lot. We also took advantage of the massages in our cottage and it was certainly an extra special luxury. A truly great experience.

We stayed for two nights in the Sirius cottage and enjoyed ourselves throughly. The cottages are simple comfortable with a touch of luxury. But in reality it's all about the hot tub and the views. There is nothing better than waking up early and enjoying the hot tub, a coffee and the beautiful scenery. The location is stunning, I only wish we had more time to spend exploring the property.

We have been to secret valley 3 consecutive years and found it to be very relaxing . Had an amazing afternoon in the spa with a glass of wine listening to the owner practicing her bass cello and the next day we wandered around the property looking at the kangaroos and alpacas. In the evening the owners invited us to the main house for drinks then we went back to cabin and relaxed in front of fire. We did not go this year because of the cost as we found similar accommodation elsewhere for cheaper . If secret valley reduces the prices we will definitely go back.

It was probably the most relaxing holiday my partner and I have ever had. The scenery was spectacular, the room was beautiful and the location was secluded and perfect. The lady that runs the escape was extremely friendly and helpful. She welcomed us into her own home for check-in and enjoyed hearing about our experiences on her property. Loved every moment of our stay.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2012

We stayed here on the June long weekend. What a great place.

From the photos on the website and Tripadvisor, we knew not to expect 5-star luxury. The photos are very accurate.

We followed the directions emailed to us and had no difficulty at all finding Illowra House and arrived around 4pm. Unfortunately no one was home to greet us. We phoned their mobile number and were told which cabin to go to. We found the cabin cold and dark, but soon turned on the aircon and started to get warmer. We had paid for firewood, which was in a basket outside, with some kindling, which was too wet to use. Glad we had a newspaper to use with the firestarters (provided).

The kitchen was well stocked but only 2 of everything, so plenty of washing up. Having been clued up about the breadmaker, I bought a packet of breadmaker mix from Coles. We set the timer for 10am and, as predicted in the instructions provided, it started making its 30mins of noise at 7am. It smelt fantastic and tasted great.

We sat on the (Freedom Furniture) couch and watched one of the 3 movies they left for us and later listened to one of their CDs on the player. We spent plenty of time in the marvellous spa, watching the rain fall gently on the wallabies grazing not far away, and drinking our champagne. We were glad for the extra towels for the spa and terry robes. We lay in bed and watched the clouds float around the sheer cliffs in the distance.

The bed was comfortable enough, great bedhead - plenty of character, but the mattress or bed base was sprung, and it sadly made a small valley in the middle, which we rolled into. The electric blankets were reassuring, but not actually needed because the doona was soooo nice. Pure white linen, a throw rug, a couple of floor rugs, and terry slippers were also very nice.

The bathroom Tastic heater didn’t seem to make too much difference, but the shower was hot and strong with room for two. Like others, we loved the basin.

Some areas that let the room down (for me anyway) included the wet kindling, the bamboo blind near the table doesn’t guarantee privacy, which made me a little nervous. There were some herbal teas and sugar provided, but no coffee. The “pure virgin olive oil” was a commercial spray can, which was almost empty. The gas-filled fire lighter was actually empty. The spa stays on to maintain the temperature, but in the still of the night it can become a little intrusive. The bed creaked when either of us rolled over. And of course the small valley in the mattress. Also no cake of soap, only a bottle of shower gel. May have had something to do with the tank water - which, by the way, they recommend you boil before drinking or brushing teeth.

These things are far outweighed by the space, fire, spa, well appointed kitchenette, and the little extras like candles & matches, books, games, lovely view, feeling of being remote (while not being at all isolated), reliable electricity, cleanliness, decent and well-stocked bathroom, extra towels, etc.

In all we had a really great stay. Would we go back? If my husband booked it as a surprise I would be delighted. Otherwise, I think there are other similar places to experience (like Eagle View at Rydell).

Room Tip: All 5 cabins are relatively close together, but positioned so that you can't see anyone else. T...

Stay warm in the jacuzzi on your porch while watching the local birds approach for food. Be woken up gently with the sound of nature, kookaburras, carrawongs, rosellas, magpies. Walk around the grounds and take in the breathtaking scenery and admire the kangaroos and wombats.

The owners are very friendly and accommodating and work hard to ensure you enjoy your stay.

While it feels you are in the middle of nowhere, restaurants, cafes, lolly shops and bottle o's are about 20 minutes away. bring a few basic food items such as fruit, bottled water, a bottle of wine and something for breakfast.

We will definitely be staying here again

Thanks Deborah and Tom!

Wanted to escape city life for the weekend so booked a 2 nighter direct on their website. Arrived around 7pm after getting out work a bit early. We were greeted by a pack of Alpaca's and the care taker. After playing with a few curious newborns we were given the key to our cabin and offered a selection of DVD's.

It really does feel like nobody else is around for miles. The way the cabins are set up you can't see any other man made structure from yours. We actually did not encounter another person/staff member for the rest of the weekend (which was great!). The cabin came equipped with a hot tub (nice an hot & clean), a breakfast basket with bread mix and some fresh eggs. We stocked up on snacks and booze on the way down, so were content for the first night.

The next day we went mushrooming, it was the first time and it showed... We picked a few poisonous ones which ruined the whole batch, but was fun anyways. Back at Secret Valley we took a walk around the huge private property.

Great place to stay if you are want take care of yourself. Don't expect room service!
Would definitely go back.
