“Excellent food, but eat it quickly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

We were there on a Friday night, the later sitting. We were well into our meal and everything was going well until, while we were still eating, the staff began to put out clean linen and cutlery on the tables that had not been used or had been vacated. They didn't exactly look at their watches but we felt the pressure to finish sooner rather than later.

Close friends dined at Aubergine last night, also the later sitting on a Friday, and their experience was the same as ours.

It's a pity that the lack of consideration of the staff was what we remembered, not the excellent food and wine. We did expect better of this very highly rated restaurant.

“Impeccable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2014 via mobile

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at . Four of us visited on a Saturday night- second sitting. The food is bursting with flavour and the service is exceptional.
We all had crisp leather jacket to start and then I had the duck breast paired with duck sausage , the rare venison with horseradish and ended with the chocolate pave. Each course was simply sublime. One of our party was vegetarian and he had plenty of choices and was particularly complimentary about the soft egg ravioli.
The wine list is extensive and we chose a cotes du Rhone , but unfortunately when we came to order our second bottle they had sold out. However our waitress promptly suggested a similar style wine and guided by her assurances we opted for her suggestion and were not disappointed.
We had high expectations which were exceeded and we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the portions ! All in all an exceptional evening.

“Top End”

I took some VIPs here for dinner, first class in all aspects. One of the best in Canberra whether for a corporate event or just the two of you.

“Top of Class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014 via mobile

Excellent choice. Beautiful food, perfect wine and great service. The chocolate & black pudding appetisers were an amazing start to the best nights dining. Every dish was served perfectly and hit the spot for taste.
The Soave white wine is very special. We will be back soon.

“Outstanding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

We were here in mid July 2014 and were very, very impressed with the place. The menu was very creative and the food combinations is not what you'd expect - pumpkin sorbet - who would have guessed! We were offered appetizers followed by the four course meal. At $80 per person it really was very good value. If you are in Canberra do yourself a really huge favour and go it a go.
