We had a lovely step back into the past, with delightful volunteers making the history of the house and family come alive. Mrs Calthorpe kept everything! and this made our tour fascinating. It is in Red Hill, easy to find, but only open on weekend afternoons, with little obvious signage, as it is in a quiet domestic street, not out on a main road.
It is living history, not museum -like with signs and roped off areas. As others have said, the atmosphere is as though the family just popped out for the day fifty years ago.
