“Unbeatable views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

This is a lovely walk - great for families - through some of the natural bush surrounding the nation's capital. The path is rocky but well marked and takes you reasonably gently up to a bluff, from which you can see the beautiful Orroral Valley. There are some great viewing points with handy rocky spots that double as ersatz seating. Take some food and drink with you and it's the perfect remote picnic spot.

Warning: there is a large drop-off from the bluff - you need to keep your kids well clear of the cliffs. They might also be surprised to see people pop up over the cliff face - it's a popular rock climbing spot too.

“Amazing views, but steep rocky walk to the top”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

We were driving in the Namadgi National Park and saw the turn-off for this walk. We first drove to Honeysuckle Campground, which was nice and had a big open area with a kookaburra and lots of big red parrots. We then went to the Booroomba Rocks Walk parking lot and head out. The initial sign on the walk is misleading - it says 30 minutes. Well, we went with a fairly fit dad, an out of shape mom, and a 4.5 year old. It took up about an hour to get to the top, taking plenty of breaks for mom and kid. It's a really interesting hike to the top - you are climbing the whole way and the trail is mostly rocky. Once at the top, the view is completely worth it. It's a big cliff with spectacular views. Lots of rocky spots for kids to play, but we and the other families up there kept a very close leash on the little ones, as it would be too easy for a kid to trip and fall right over the cliff. The walk down didn't take as long, of course, but it still took concentration because it was so rocky, you had to watch where you put every foot. I would highly recommend this hike, but make sure you don't go too late in the day (climbing down at night would be terrible). Also, make sure you bring water and a snack for the top. You can purchase snacks/drinks at the Namadgi National Park Visitors Centre on the way in.

“Soaring with eagles”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2012

A short but demanding walk with just wonderful vistas regardless of the time of year. On one visit a wedge-tailed eagle was riding the thermals and we were literally eye-balling him.
