“A bit far out but good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2010

The hotel is in the suberbs so you will need a car to use this hotel. The kitchen is small and has a very limited range of utensils but there is an outside braai. The room we stayed has been refurbished and felt clean. The fan for the bathrrom is very noisy. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. There is a newspaper at the office every day.

Although we had booked months in advance we were told on arrival that they had changed our room. We ended up staying in a room right next door to the office with a public covered sitting area outside. We had to keep the window blinds covered the entire time due to privacy from the office and people walking past so it was very dark inside. We had stayed here previously and our room was in a much better position so we would not stay here again unless we were assured of a better room. A friend used the indoor pool and could not stay in as it was freezing and the spa was empty the entire week. Not sure about other rooms but ours was tired and needs a good makeover. We didn't have a coffe table or TV in the bedroom although the room our friend occupied did for the same cost.

Firstly this hotel is a bit out of the city - and as I was working there I was a little disappointed as my partner - without a car needed taxi transport to get around. Visually from the road and entrance it looks great - but the huge courtyard in photos has been ripped out and filled in with white pebbles - and scattered black pots with nothing in them.

This not only made the place very bleak and glarey - it also reflected all noise causing it to be amplified. really disappointing to be awakened by drunk (but happy) drinking, smoking revellers out in that courtyard (every room backs onto it) at 11.00pm, 12.30am 1.30am and 3.30am.

The room is functional although I agree the bathrooms are tiny.
Along with the fact that the TV sits on a bench halfway in the room (I think it's been on a lazy susan before which was no longer there... and rather bizare furniture choices - it was comfortable when quiet.

I have to say though I was dissapointed when upon arrival I'd checked in on the Friday that I was booked a second night - which was confirmed - to get a call on the Saturday asking why I hadn't checked out???!!!!

Would I stay here again? No

  • Liked — Free internet, great safe under ground parking
  • Disliked — Noisy on the weekend I'd suggest, bleak courtyard, no real Customer Service

Apartments consist of some with a kitchen (with dishwasher, hot plate, microwave) plus washing machine and dryer & some others with just a toaster and kettle. Tiny, tiny, bathroom just about big enough for a miniscule washbasin & shower. There's an underground car park adjacent to an undercover swimming pool & small gym with about 3 or pieces of equipment in it. The gym & pool wasn't used much at all.

Shops, big & busy Woolworth's supermarket & quite a few restaurants, fast food places, Caltex Petrol station are all a 5 minute walk away. The area is a bit dead & quiet (but then so is nearly all of boring Canberra!)

The apartments are in a quiet suburb of Canberra. The rooms are a bit of a 1980's time warp with turquoise headboards, matching chairs and sofa, load flowery bedspreads and pale brown pretty badly stained carpet.

I stayed in the apartment for a few days, during the time I was there the carpet wasn't cleaned at all. Shower was a bit dirty too thinking about it.

The electricity trip switch blew when I simultaneously plugged the toaster and the TV on. It was soon fixed by the friendly receptionist though.

Place was fine for a few days... probably better places to stay for the money though.

  • Liked — Free internet access.
  • Disliked — Stained carpet, tiny bathroom & dated furniture.

The best thing is the quiet location. Good secure parking.
Rooms are clean although my bed spread has a tear in it.
North of the city, but close to resteraunts and shops in dickson.

If you need a good nights sleep, the beds are comfortable and little noise from the nearbystreets.

Also free broadband up to 20 meg per day was a bonus.

Stayed for 3 nights in October. Very quiet but a long way from town if you don't have a car. Room was OK. Gym is shabby, pool was not heated. Restaurants about 10 minutes walk away. Overall borderline OK for the price. Will try somewhere else next time.

This was the first time we stayed at this hotel/motel. The staff were lovely, they went out of there way to make sure we had everything we needed. We Stayed in a family apartment which had new carpet and Paint work and you could tell that the hotel was in the process of renovating all of there rooms. Walking distance to a range of restaurants and very quiet location. We were extremely satisfied with our stay, the only downfall was the public spa wasnt operating due the water restrictions apart from that highly recommend it!
