“A capital experience at Capital Executive Apartments...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

The Capital Executive Apartments offer great value for a very reasonable price close to the inner city bus terminal and the city centre. I stayed here twice recently within a two week period for stays of 3 and 2 nights; in all I have stayed here for my past four visits to Canberra. My first apartment stayed at recently had a spa and my second stay apartment had the buffet breakfast included in the price. The rooms were very clean and spacious with a functional modern kitchenette with a nice touch of free kit kats in the refrigerator. The breakfast was terrific with a selection of cereals, fruits, yoghurts, toast and a hot buffet of bacon, tomato and scambled eggs. I will continue to stay here on future work trips to Canberra.

I had a studio apartment and found it extremely well designed with all facilities one could need arranged in a very accessible way. As i prefer to be able to provide some meals for myself, this accommodation was ideal. There is also a restaurant if one wishes to make use of this too.

Reception was always helpful, cheerful and willing to provide any assistance they could. My first time here and I would happily return.

My only issue would be with the bed light which I found a tad dim for reading in bed....unless it is my aging eyes? :)

Room Tip: Maybe not one facing Northbourne Avenue? (Tho' rooms all have shutters on the windows so noise f...

Good value for money well priced, clean and tidy, had pull out beds for the kids but suited us for time spent comfortable and well stocked. Good size spa. We also enjoyed the swimming pool. Great facilities friendly staff. walking distance to shops and easy driving to tourist spots . Highly recommended if on a budget.

We arrived around 7 pm and the car park was full but they still had space out the front, fortunately it wasn't raining. The room was clean, beds were comfortable and there was a little kitchenette.

There is some noise from the road in the morning as it is on a major thoroughfare, but was quiet at night.

Not fancy but good for a family on a budget.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel and the location was 5 minutes to shopping and restaurants, and easy driving to major tourist spots such as the Australian War Memorial.
The room was clean and had a well equipped kitchenette. The beds were comfortable but as with previous reviewers the noise was extremely annoying. The traffic lights outside our room meant there was the constant stopping and roaring of car engines. On the other side of the room the breakfast buffet was right outside our door and the noise from here started early in the mornings.
We chose this hotel for the location and the fact that it was reasonably priced. Also the free car parking was a bonus!

The hotel is in a very good location, in the city centre and very close to Coles Express, McDonald's and the Canberra Centre which is just a short walk. We loved the freebies such as Kitkats and the hot chocolate. Tea, coffee and milk were generously supplied. We booked a spa suite good for 5 people and the beds were very comfortable. Our towels were changed daily which was truly a plus, and the rooms were made without us having to request it. The were free newspapers upon request, too. Breakfast buffet was reasonably priced at $15.00. There was so much variety in the mini-bar and the room had another fridge to store our food. Each room had a TV and air. The room had a hair dryer, kettle, flat iron, microwave oven, toaster and a 2-burner stove top. They also supplied dishwashing liquid and a scrub! Shampoo, conditioner and body wash were supplied generously as well.

The cleaners were very efficient however, the air vents in the bathroom were very, very dusty and the blinds needed dusting. I know that these may be overlooked in the busy everyday schedule but management might want to do a clean-up every now and then. There were not enough forks and spoons for 5 people and the spoons we had in the room were for soup. The plates did not indicate that were microwave-safe and it was a good thing we brought a couple of microwaveable bowls from home to use.

On a Friday night, guests from the next room were screaming and partying when we were trying to get some sleep but we would like to give credit to the night manager for quieting them down. It took a couple of attempts for him to subdue the rowdy crowd though. We wished he would have thrown them out of the hotel though because the banging on the walls and the shrieks and chants were that bad and totally unacceptable behavior.

The 24-hour check in sign at the front actually meant 24-hour reception. We were not allowed into our rooms before 2 p.m. Reception did not bother checking whether our rooms were available. My family arrived at about 12:00 p.m.and just drove around Canberra to pass the time and waited another half an hour to be admitted into our rooms. There were actually 3 people waiting in the lobby for 2 p.m.

Wi-fi internet connection was so limited that it could not reach our room in Level 2. One can stay in the 1st level though at the Atrium where breakfast was served to have a decent connection. Internet rate of $10 was reasonable though for the duration of one's stay.

Free parking undercover parking was also a plus.

Our experience was OK but the hotel could do better. However, we will consider staying in this hotel again because there are very limited choices for a group of 5.

Stayed here in May 2013. Rooms were basic and neat, which is what to be expected for the reasonable prices. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was excellent, just a short walk into the central shopping area. Biggest issue was the noise, firstly from the traffic and secondly, from the open breakfast area which began at 6.30am.
