“One night in Canberra”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

Husband and myself spent last Friday night there, had it prebooked thru Internet for a B & B. check in, straight away standard room all good, clean and big enough with a nice comfy queen bed. Breakfast in the dining room very good, plenty of choice, tables cleared quickly and staff friendly and obliging, no complaints quite location, close to Dickson eateries, we would always use as a base and tell others about it ..

Stayed two nights and also experienced two groups of school children staying, what a great place Canberra is to bring kids there is so much to see and do. A car is useful from this location, nothing takes long to get to. We had a standard room which was o.k. for a short stay, we had two chairs and a sofa, microwave and plates and cutlery, fridge which was well stocked and a comfy bed with extra blankets if required. The bathroom is pretty small, bit tight if you are a big guy! There is a restaurant however if kids are staying the dinner hours are limited and room service is provided if you need it.

Room Tip: Upstairs could be better, if you are underneath you can hear all the footsteps.

Thank you for taking time out to write your review. We do occasionally have school groups staying with us. That is the the nature of Canberra. These groups are always supervised by a number of teachers, are invariably well behaved, and cause little to no inconvenience to our other guests. We look forward to welcoming you back again and assure you that we will make every effort to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Thank you again - Warm wishes from the Guest Relations Team

Stayed in a family room that slept 6 (as it contained a queen bed plus 2 x double bunks). Room modernised and bathroom semi-modernised. Quiet location (so need to a car to get to shops, attractions etc). Booked well ahead, so got a good rate even though Floriade was on. Pleasant, helpful staff.

Room Tip: If you are concerned about security, ask for a room on the first floor.

It's a bit off the main street so very restful. The staff were helpful, particularly in the bistro as we arrived fairly late but were still able to obtain a meal. Despite there being a large group of school children staying service in the dining room was still very efficient for breakfast.

Located in quiet suburban area. Clean rooms with good furnishings. We enjoyed our stay and appreciated them letting us have an early check in. Thought the heated underfloors in the bathroom were a nice touch. Staff helpful and would recommend to anyone.

Very good rooms and situated in a residential suburb near Dickson. One does need a car for this motel. With a car however, there is a shortage of parking inside the area and coming back late at night some were forced to park outside on the nature strip. The passageways do echo and make it quite noisy, though at night we had no problem as we were possibly back around mid-night when most were also back. It could be a problem however with noisy groups returning and certainly during the day every door could be heard banging shut and all conversations are heard in the passage. This could be fixed by some acoustic tiles on the walls or hanging carpets and just a much thicker carpet on the passage floors. We paid 155 on Wotif and wouldn't want to pay any more.

We stayed in a family room, 2 adults & 2 small children. Room was large, clean and good decor.
Air-con worked well so we were comfortable at night.
Location is a bit out of town but I guess that's what makes it nice and quiet.
The only thing was the mini bar was empty, we were looking forward to a cold drink when returning to the room but there was nothing but a small milk, no biggie, service station wasn't far.
Over all a great place to stay for a weekend away.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. Just before your stay, we had a school group staying with us, and the bar fridge was emptied by our housekeepers. They were remiss and did not fill the fridge prior to your arrival. We apologise for this omission, which should not have happened. As a result of your review, we have taken steps to ensure that this will not happen again. We are pleased that, despite that disappointment, you enjoyed your stay with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Warm wishes - Guest Relations Team
