“Nice getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

We were in Canberra for a family wedding and we all chose to stay at Manuka Park Apartments. The ceremony was at Old Parliament House and the reception at the National Art Gallery which were only a 5minute drive from the apartments, so we were in a good location.

We booked 2 x 2 bedroom apartments and 1 x 1 bedroom apartments. I stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with my partner, sister and her husband and we did not feel cramped or on top of each other. The kitchen was of a good size and clean but we decided to eat out most of the time. My other family members seemed happy with their rooms as well.

The pool itself was a little dirty but it was too cold to swim anyway which I can understand why it might not have been cleaned recently. But the area surrounding the pool was clean so we just sat around in the sun which was nice to catch up with family we hadn't seen for a while.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and tried their best to accommodate our requests considering there were a lot of us staying there. The only little issue we had was that their web prices on their own website were cheaper than if you called up and book directly with the hotel, however if you call and question this, they honor the cheaper price.

Overall, we all had a great time and we would probably stay here again.

Room Tip: If you a booking a 2 bedroom apartment and you need 2 queen beds make sure to request this because t...

We stayed here in a two bedroom apartment for four nights. Location was excellent, close to tourist attractions and shopping centre. Apartment spacious and comfortable. Washing machine and dryer in apartment came in very handy! Quiet location.

First impression as we walked in - "a motel" - and it does have this appearance but it is better than that. Certainly not luxurious but our apartment was very clean and serviced daily. Has everything one needs in an apartment. The arpts must be different, ours had a small washing machine and 1/2 size dishwasher both in the kitchen. Very adequate for our needs. Bedrooms are on the small side but adequate none the less. The very annoying thing - no free Wi-Fi! We have just returned from South America and even in the isolated areas (eg. 5 hour drive from the nearest town) in the reception of the hotels the Wi-Fi is free. Here in our Capital it costs...!!!
In a really good location, lots of shops, hotels, quick drive to the centre.

The only pro was this was close to everything.

The cons:
1. Listed as a serviced apartment. Well, we stayed 4 nights and not one service! Apparently the place is not serviced on weekends or on public holidays!
2. The room we were assigned definitely had cigarette smoke all through it. There was an offer to deodorize the room, but we asked to change to another one. Note rooms are all advertised as smoke free!
3. Our room was not properly cleaned! Dirty tissues next to the main bed, the couch and in the 2nd bedroom. Also, an old hair tie from someone else under one of the beds and loads of dirt and dust under the beds. Disgusting.
4. The walls and floors are paper thin. You can hear conversations all night making it really noisy and unpleasant.
5. No free wifi. Disappointing given the cost.

We won't be back. Perhaps try the Medina apartments next door

Room Tip: Ask for smoke free room

What a great find this place is!
Reasonably priced accommodation in Canberra is almost impossible to find - These apartments are priced well and located an easy walk to Kingston with it's vast array of places to eat or drink, as well as a well stocked supermarket in IGA.

Besides a great location the apartments also boast onsite parking (which was included in the price) and great spacious rooms - a good kitchen with full sized fridge and dishwasher, as well as a full washer and dryer in the bathroom.

I was hesitant to write a review cause I fear if too many people find out how great this little gem is it'll be hard for me to keep getting rooms!

Stayed for a few nights. The accommodation is one of the closet to Manuka which is great.
The rooms are a little tired, although, had every appliance you could need.
No problems with the air conditioning. The air con seemed to be new.
Only 1 bathroom in the 2 bedroom unit.
Very friendly staff.
Overall, quite happy.

Room Tip: The top floor rooms have 2 balconies. ( one is small )

Went in Term 1 Holidays (Autumn) with my 2 young boys. The location is great - very central - and near local shops. Reception Staff friendly and very accommodating... we arrived early and was able to check in as our room was ready.

We had the two bed apartment on the top floor - so we had lots of sun and space - including bedrooms. Large kitchen and mostly new equipment. Although one of the rings was not working.

Included TV in living and Master bed room - nice - mini stereo, DVD and video players.

Rooms were in ok condition. A little bit dirty - not vacuumed properly. External doors paintwork was chipped and tired - a pity as it detracted from the property.

Otherwise, not a lot else to complain. Since the weather was not too hot or cold, we did not really test out the heating or cooling - as this seems to be a recurring complaint about the Apartments.

We enjoyed the Apartments - although I think we paid a little more than it was worth.

We would be happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Top floor apartments have back and front door so nicely ventilated and lots of light.
