“A very impressive place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

I was thoroughly impressed with not only how well this building has aged but with the enthusiasm of our guide Eric. His love of his job was evident and this was a real treat. He talked passionately about the ideals and aspirations of this project and our 3 kids really took home from the tour an awareness of the ideals of a new democracy and what that means for all of us. The materials used are beautiful and such an easy, well thought out building. The cafe was great and all the gifts in the gift shop were Australian made which was a change. Please go.

“Open Day - Magic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

Unfortunately this view is a little biased as we happened to be here for open day and managed to tour areas not normally open to the public. A walk through the Prime Minister's quarters, the speakers rooms and the Senate Presidents rooms were real highlights but not normally open to the public.

“Should not be missed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

We re-visited the Federal Parliament House again this weekend for its annual Open Day. This is one of the most amazing public buildings in Australia and should not be missed by any one travelling to Canberra. It is full of references to the landscape of the country, has some amazing art works and best of all, can be accessed by the public, even when a parliament is sitting. Make it a must see for your next visit ...

“Welcome to "our house".”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

Having last been here about 10 years ago, we were pleased to see that there are few signs of age in this magnificent building. Australians can be truly proud of the building, the outlook and the democratic government that this building houses. For all that we whinge about our politicians, this is truly a great legacy to leave the generations to follow. We live in a wonderful free country and this is the home of the place that ensures that our country remains that way. Do take a guided tour to appreciate the thought that has gone into the design and decoration of the place, from the nod to the British system of government in the choice of the interior colours of the 2 houses, to the colour choices of timber and floor decorations and sweeping curves of the architecture, even to the significance of the grassy knoll on top! Disappointed that I could not tour the Reichstag in Berlin last year without a prior booking and security check, by contrast, we are so welcoming, and were able to take our German guest into our own houses of parliament with only an airport security screen check.

“Lovely building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013 via mobile

My husband & I are in Sydney for our sons Wedding so we came to Canberra to do some " sight" seeing . First stop was Paliament House - we weren't disappointed although if we had known we would have tried to do a guided tour. It really is an impressive building and although it is only 25 years parts of it seem older. Definitely recommend the views from the roof - although I thought someone would have thought to have signs giving details of the points of interest !! Just an idea !
Staff were friendly & helpful. There is a Post office in the building so we were able to send a postcard to our granddaughter stamped from Parliament House. Certainly worth the visit.
