“Breathtaking.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

We were astounded by the High Courts.
As you enter the foyer, there is so much to look at. The building itself is an architectural feat.
The courts were not in session when we went, but the was a tour guide in each court to explain the use of the courtroom and answer questions.
When court is in session, The public is welcome but you do have to book.

“A commanding presence on the lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

Great building, interesting subject matter (the workings of the High Court). If you are there in a sitting week you can hear a case being argued.

“Helpful staff, interesting visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

The High Court is located between the National Gallery and the Portrait Gallery overlooking Lake Burley Griffin. Consists of three courts each having different functions.
The helpful staff are very willing to tell you what goes on and how it all works.

“Just great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

We visited whilst on summer break so there were no courts sitting but oh how great the staff were. All so knowledgeable and happy to discuss the roles of the judges and history. Probably one of our highlights.

“Fairly interesting experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

This visit was let down by the misinformation on the website. The website advertised 30 minute talks at 11am and 3pm. We rushed to be at the High Court by 3pm only to find there was no talk; just a guide in each court to tell you a bit about it. The guide was helpful although was really there to answer questions. I would have liked more of an overview of the court and the systems in place. There was a short video to watch which did provide some of this information.

The High Court is worth a visit but around 30-40 minutes is probably enough.
