The York provide a great location for accessing the cafes, restaurants and bars of Manuka. Our room was quiet, spacious and clean. The kitchen et was more than adequate, although we did not use it. The room also came with packaged breakfast and plunger coffee, but with really excellent cafes across the road there would be no real reason to eat in - you could order meals from the restaurant down stairs.

Great location as there are a number of places to eat around. I stayed in a studio room. This is a service apartment with decent kitchen facilities so if you are staying for a few days it is a nice place to be. Bed is comfortable, the room is large, although the bathroom is looking a bit dated. Very clean and you can work out of the room but there is no wireless.

There is secure parking downstairs but limited spots. I hired a car as this was cheaper than getting taxis around the place. Canberra is an easy place to get around in a car. Not public transport - as there virtually is none.

No gym or pool, but if you like running then the lake is just around the corner and you an have a really nice run around it. Pretty flat so good for people like me who like to do general fitness but are by no means really fit.

Tip - they do not have 24 x 7 reception so if you are coming on the weekend or after hours they will make arrangements to get you the keys. It is very simple.

We stayed two nights. The kitchen was spacious, with plenty of crockery, glasses etc and a microwave and hot plates. The plug was too small so it was useless, just a little thing but annoying just the same. It was supposed to have a washing machine but it had been removed at some point and there was just an ironing board in the cupboard.
Very noisy on the Sat night as Giles Street is very busy and the windows were not double glazed. Good points were Foxtel on the TV in the bedroom and a king size bed.
The location is awesome if you plan on eating out. Towels were soft and fluffy and changed without us asking.

I stayed at The York on a Saturday evening. The room was clean & spacious. Location is great if you wish to be located in Kingston in the inner south. Unfortunately the windows should have been double glazed. I had a night where I was not able to get any sleep whatsoever! If it wasn't the noise of the happy people going home from the restaurants, night clubs & bars throughout the "entire" night, it was the security alarms going off at the newsagency and other restaurants "directly" across the road.
