I've been out here a couple of times now with visitors and WOW - an way fantastic visitors experience. They have quite a large display which includes photos, bits of equipment (including one of the mars explorer thingies) and samples of rocks and dust from the moon and mars. They have large picture windows overlooking the dishes including a little speaker that lets you listen to the sounds from outer space. But what makes this work is Glen - the tour guide. Make sure you get on one of the walking tours and he explains it all with passion and in a way that makes it accessible to anyone.
The big winner here is the theatre - they show amazing photos from deep space and also explain it all. I;ve seen pretty astonishing presentations on Saturn; women's involvement in the space programs and another amazing presentation that showed the size of earth (a pinprick) compared to the rest of the galaxy.
The centre has a cafe - which is pretty ordinary but OK
Glen has passion, knowledge and great photos and everyone has enjoyed themselves.
Only issue - you need a car and be prepared for the 30 minute drive out of town to get there and once there - no mobile reception
