“Excellent treasure-trove of art”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

Well worth attending the Toulouse Lautrec exhibition. At $25 per adult the entry cost was a little expensive but OK given there was no cost for parking. Ensure you check any large bags in at the cloakroom. Try to take your lunch with you as the cafe food was nice but very expensive and we waited almost 30 minutes in the que.

That said, the exhibiton was excellent! With a wide array of painting methods (surprisingly with a lot on cardboard) the subjects were also fascinating. We did not do the audio tour but the information displays were comprehensive and suffice.

Make sure you visit the rest of the gallery (at no extra cost) as it is filled with wonderful exhibits. A small walk outside takes you through some wonderful sculptures through both bush areas and rolling shady green lawn - lovely to sit on and have your lunch!

Well worth the visit (allow 3 - 4 hours if visiting all exhibits on all floors), and within walking distance of the National Portrait Gallery of Australia.

“Very Good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

The Toulouse Lautrec Exhibition was very good, though more information about each work and his life would have been better. The French cafe for the exhibit closed at 2pm which was disappointing for us and seemed early. The main cafe in the gallery had crumbs everywhere, dirty tables - and over priced, average, slow to arrive food. Overall just loved the art and a beautiful gallery.

“Well worth a visit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

We visited this gallery after the New Year and it is one of the best things to visit in Canberra. It is free!!! Each gallery had something of interest, such as famous people who had served in the armed forced and were well known for their actions such as Nancy Wake. Then there were some Archibald entrants, and they will be well known by Australians. A gallery of sportmen/women, some great photos and a brilliant huge painting of the Queen. You must take time to sit and admire the way the artist has painted Westminster Abbey, the tiles on the floor, the ermine edged cloak and the Queen's dress - magnificent. the staff are very friendly, and there are comfortable seats to sit in. The shop is also an interesting place to visit.

“Toulouse-Lautrec Exhibition”

We bought our tickets to the exhibition from the Novotel Hotel - these allowed us to head straight to the door. Great exhibition showing the man and his works of art. You learn something each time you visit the gallery.
